gov just looked shaky at times defending friday night, and imo marchbank played better, defending and intercepted better.

i don't think we'd lose too much defensively if gov goes forward compared to if kemp did?

Our defence is settled and works well together. McGovern had a poor night but will get better

I wouldn't play with our structure at all. It works

Jack for McKay & Motlop or Kennedy for Martin
Maybe add another runner like Hollands

You don't change what works and certainly not in finals

Gawn certainly not 100% fit.

not necessarily ... finals history is littered with coaches creating mad little wrinkles and shifting the magnets that throw the opposing coaches box into a tailspin.

if we trot out sos (no word if he's even available) who hasn't played in what, 5-6 weeks? a slow footed kennedy who can't lead up the field and turn an opponent i think we'll be picked apart by the dees defence. structurally we wouldn't change a thing, we'd just ask gov to come in and play they jack or harry role as best he can. someone has to make lever accountable.

i'm in the camp of; this week is the perfect setting to roll the dice and do something no one expects. we're blessed with defenders who can mark and run, and as a backline we're used to playing without gov and his injuries. and our forward line is beyond critical mass with injuries & suspension

Are you forgetting Plowman went forward against Melb in a preseason match last year?

Gov has been a mainstay in the backline this season. I wouldn't be messing with that. With zone defence these days its so important to work as a unit and know how each other play. Plus I think having the Gov and Kemp there enables Marchbank to play more of an interceptor role, which I think was the whole strategy behind him playing over another running rebounding defender.

Jack for Harry and TDK spending more time forward should do the trick. Plus we can give Cripps some minutes down there if we need another marking target

I agree Gov wasn't great but still had 463m gained. Third most for our team (behind Acres and Saad). Admitedly, I don't always put as much weight on that stat as others may, but in a tight, low scoring final and I expect this one to be just that, metres gained will be important. I'd leave him back.
Don't know if Cazz should be worried or not, but I am on a similar wavelength to him. The idea of playing Marchy as a defensive forward on Lever has crossed my mind. Particularly if JSOS doesn't play.

Agree with this. McGovern has had time in the forward line and rarely performs there. He and Marchbank and Kemp are real threats delivering the ball from D50 - any of them can set up a forward thrust that catches Melbourne flat footed.

I think Charlie may play a decoy role. Drag May and maybe Lever away from the danger zone. If Charlie gets it, he kick whip it to one of the others 30m out. Either way, May/Lever have a big choice to make.

I’m not I’m buying into the Gawn not 100% thing. Did this injury occur right at the end? Even if true, Grundy as the main ruck with a huge point to prove is pretty dangerous for us too.

I’m concerned about their small forwards, esp Kosi and Fritsch. They will consciously be adjusting their F50 entries.

Of course, the Dees will be under intense pressure. We will too but the pressure on losing in straight sets could weigh heavily.

You mean something unexpected like Dominic Akeui to tag Lever?

The MC have not done anything weird all season and they're not going to do anything weird now.

Motlop for McKay
Silvagni for Martin

45 minutes, but I got kicked out when finalising.
10.04am this week, but we had all 3 of us trying.

I think Silvagni comes in for McKay, need height in the forward line.
If Martin is out then maybe Motlop into the team. Coming on so late did him no favours on Friday night as he was unprepared for the intensity and had no opportunity to catch up to the speed/pressure of finals footy.

Sub maybe Dow, or if he's fit then Kennedy. Hard one.

I am hoping for Silvagni and Kennedy.

Kennedys big body could be very handy in a final.

Is the tribunal tonight or normal tuesday night?

Knowing the AFL it'll be at 4.55pm Friday.
