For those who aren’t overly happy with our performance last night, I hope you’re watching the saints get absolutely dismantled.

We played below par for most of the game, shit ourselves at times, but we still WON.

Finals are a different ball game. We’ve been a basket case for a decade. We aren’t just gonna turn into the 95 side with a click of our fingers.

The fact that we won with so many areas of improvement against a battle hardened, in form and heavily experienced finals side, with so much pressure and expectation, after losing our key forward and the other being triple teamed, is just so pleasing.

We just need to clean up the mistakes, like a few kick-ins, bit of panic in one passage deep in defence, and the ball going through Martin's legs with 25 sec to go which all resulted in goals. They were 4 or 5 goals they got for nothing which made a comfortable win close. Clean that up and we will be good.

I was just happy to win! Work on the rest during the week.

agreed. we gifted them at least 3 to 4 goals and i mean gifted. abit more poise in those moments, and its an easy victory ...

it was far from our best performance, but it wasnt terrible either. i thought our 2nd quarter was excellent. the 3rd not so much, the 4th felt like we where against 22, every half decision went against us ...

but, we won. I always thought our first final was the big one for us. that was the hurdle. its all on the dees now, not to go straight sets ... and i honestly cant see them kicking enough goals withour a forward line, and with brayshaw out. fritsch/kosi are their only avenue to goal with that other tiprat melksham out ... so keep those two quiet and i cant see them kicking enough goals to win.

SOS in McKay, Hollands in for Acres (if he doesnt come up), Motlop for Martin (if we cant get him off on appeal) .. Dow sub.

My throat is still a little sore from carrying on like a pork chop.

As already mentioned, the crowd swung wildly between thunderous and dead silent. PTSD?

Sydney were handed 4-5 goals from the softest turnovers I've seen all season, add Harry shooting blanks in front of goal, and the margin flattered them, IMO.

Horse can EAD with his ARC opinion. I know he was asked directly in the presser, but it came across as though he thought it changed the result.

Martin a big loss next week, he was enormous.

Thanks for posting that.

That put a big smile on the face of this rusted-on Bluebagger!

Good to see Andy Maher let off the chain. Bloke had to sit there last year while Tolstoy-lite eulogised our season.

Full send, Radar. Give it heaps.

wow, Lions just extinguished the Port Power fight back that third quarter. like a fire hose full throttle at a bin fire. good night, Port.

there’s often one team in finals winning by big margins and they often go on with the job, at least make the GF if not all the way.

after Blues, Lions were my tip for GF/Flag at the start of the season. they seemed to fly under the radar most of this season. i rate then way over Pies for talent, method and flexibility/adaptability to opposition tactics/dominance.

for a smart coach Horse can say some really dumb stuff. embarrassing. unconscious deflection in the aftermath of a bitter loss? they’d dared to dream like us with a form run at finals.

watching first quarter replay i thought Swans were getting away with a lot of scraggy bs like pushing players to ground after they had marked as we were about to give off a quick handball to a runner. someone was pushing Charlie sideways in the back to spoil his running line as he approaches marking contest.. no protection from umps other than very obvious frees.

might make a list! i get in a final they allow play to continue a lot more but illegal acts remain illegal.

I'm glad a few others have recognised Marchbank's improvement. The bloke behind me was carrying on all night about how Marchy is a dud, and that we should have picked Young instead.

Don't get me wrong, I was a huge fan of what Young did last year, and I'm still bullish on his future. But FMD, you'd have to have rocks in your head to pick him over Machy at the moment.

I feel for H. Poor bloke's confidence is completely shot. I reckon he could benefit from a spell down back next year, just to take his mind off kicking goals for a while, and enjoy playing footy again.

Selection is going to be interesting next week!

Melbourne has been painted Navy Blue

I’ve been to a lot of great Carlton games at the G, including Premierships, at Princes Park after a Flag, but last night was out of the box.

There’s something unique about Carltonians and the noise they bring. Spine tingling stuff.

Repeating the song a 4th time at the ground I have never experienced before. Why did it happen? It’s the best club song in the country. Swans fans were singing it. Melbourne is alive and vibrant againagain

Anyone seen that Billboard of a sign in Finch st Malvern? FMD unreal.

Last night the train doors couldn’t close because of the ecstatic crowd. Hilarious.

How good is it being a bagger!!!!

Plane landed at 6.40. Put the siren on the roof and powered to the G. Tuned into SEN Carlton bias fkn hilarious. Pisser. Siren went and and we were running. The roar of the crowd was amazing and thought you can’t top that noise. Got to Gate 5 and Doc kicks the goal. What was it like inside? It was huge, double the noise of the bounce.

Then we get in and the joint is wall to wall Navy Blue.

My sons had never been to a Carlton winning Final. My youngest who’s in the Swans Academy hadn’t seen Carlton win since the Crows game at the G in 2014. Can you imagine the feeling they experienced when the Final siren sounded?

Hugging people we didn’t know. High fives. Mates with us. Singing with gusto till hoarse.

Finally the win they longed for. It came and it came in a big way. They are so proud.

Texts coming from Swans fans we hadn’t seen or heard from up to 10 years congratulating us for our loyalty with pride and a deserved win against the more experienced team.

We love being a Bluebagger. It’s something really special:

Richest history
Best jumper
Best song

Da da dada
Da da dada

Wearing our jumpers all night , on the streets, in bed, all day and on the plane back to Sydney and we will strut with them on proudly with sauce stains and all

Marchbank was fantastic

Those ‘fumbly’ moments early were more than that if you had a good look. Right from the get go the Swans fooled us and played their overlap game. Poor Marchy had to beat 2 players twice. No one around to help out. Fumbly? Nah he couldn’t take possession 2 on one. He halved the contest. He was smart and competitive.

He got better and better as the game progressed. Great to see him finally to see his game catch up to the tempo of Finals footy let alone H&A. From there he flourished like a supremely gifted athlete would.

If you didn’t notice the above you must have seen his game build as it progressed. At the very least. If not Imo you didn’t want to.

I thought Marchbank was our best tall in the backline. Very disappointed in Gov. He’s flashy but very loose and miss timed many marking attempts. Kemp is only 22yo and this experience will be unbelievable for his development but he made his customary mistakes, Weiters was tough and hard at it but his timing was a bit out and 2 nd to a couple contests he would usually spoil.

Haven’t read the thread yet. Will do tomorrow. Anyone want to have a go at Marchbank is not looking at what he does for the team and see what they want to see and post what they want to see.

As mentioned before, Vossy loves Marchy, as do all his team mates because he puts his body on the line, moves incredibly well for a big man and is a great mark. If he doesn’t break down before season is out he will not be delisted as some posters say ad nauseum.

Marchbank’s critics in the past have only been a handful of Carlton supporters. You get that. I’m expecting the read those same posters continue their blinkered view and I will just have to have the last laugh, just like Marchy will. I will just ignore the ignorance.

Next, I will comment on the great contribution in the game of players who are similarly targeted by posters like Marchy…Pitto, Cottrell, Acres and Harry well done lads

I thought the Swans played their best footy for the year despite them winning nearly all their games in the last 2 months.

Great coaching by Longmire. They got their short game going to create the overlapping and run but our defence held up with huge support from mids and at times in the end by forwards as well.

The Swans were throwing everything at us and without a making outlet when Harry went down it was a case of holding our lead and kick to a congested wing to create another contest.

We were the better team

We fking won !!!

TDK had a good game but Pitto was the only one of the two rucks who could handle Hickey. Hickey killed TDK at the centre bounce. Pitto hurt a lot of opponents and spoiled more marks than I’m sure some will have missed

Pitto is the one who can handle Gawn better than TDK too…. Just like last game we played Dees.

If you don’t want to see Pitto’s strengths you never will

How can anyone have a best 22 missing Cottrell other than trying to fit in a fave into their fave team which then makes it a fave team rather than a best 22 team

I hope last night Cotts earned some respect from his detractors

He’s a machine with footy smarts and he’s a footballer with amazing athletic attributes. He’s got mongrel and he really deliberately hurt a few Swans.

Before getting injured Harry was our best tall forward.

He marked some balls I thought were impossible to mark

Pity about his 2 shots at goal.

He’s not toblame for Swans surge. He was responsible for his kicking. I think he was involved in half a dozen scores before he got knocked out in unusual circumstances.
