Sam Edmund's views on some of our players. He does seem to be sitting on the fence with a couple of them:

Jack Silvagni (Carlton)

“No, not happening,” said Edmund when asked if Silvagni was set to leave for the Gold Coast.

“In fact I think he’s actually a really good chance to stay at Carlton.

“It’s far from guaranteed, of course he could leave, but just the vibe I get speaking to people is that he will now stay. He wants to stay, he loves the club, he’s Carlton through and through, but of course the deal has to be right.

“My read could be way off but just the feeling I get speaking to people around this who make the decisions are that things are moving towards re-signing.

“I’m also not sure the rival interest has been enormous either. I just think he stays.”

Zac Fisher (Carlton)

“I think it’s highly likely (that he leaves).

“North Melbourne are prepared to offer a big contract for someone like Zac Fisher, maybe as long as five years which sounds extraordinary but that is the whisper doing the rounds.

“He will have some options.”

Paddy Dow (Carlton)

“Right now Paddy Dow is still in something of a holding phase in regards to his playing future.

“The last month or two hasn’t changed a lot. There is widespread interest from other clubs because when he’s come into the Carlton setup he’s equipped himself quite well.

“St Kilda, Hawthorn, a couple of others will come. Paddy does want to stay at Carlton, that’s not the issue, but the opportunity is.

“He wants to play, the next couple of weeks are going to be crucial. This seems like a 50-50 call at the moment.”

Lochie O’Brien (Carlton)

“On the market, will not be at Carlton next year. Available to a rival club at the right price.”

Liam Henry has officially requested a trade.

I know other clubs are likely but I would seriously look at him. Young quick and talented player that would really add to our side. I think can become elite

Our first round this year would do it

i was just here to say the same thing about henry.

from memory we put an offer on him on draft day or something? and freo matched it? (father/ son or academy?) i remember we wanted him, i know that much.

he's exactly what i'd like to add this offseason. fast and smart and that little bit of Kozi pickett x factor.

Yep Liam Henry ticks every box.

Started slowly but his last 10 games or so have been really good

My Freo mates over here are spewing he’s leaving but it has been on the cards for a while

Can’t.

Rules say we’d have to trade in another first round pick before we can trade our current pick out.

Have to use two in every four year period.

Good player but playing his best footy as a winger. It's probably the one role we have covered reasonably well. Especially with the Campo boys possibly coming.
Look at other options to use our first round pick IMHO. Packaging up with a future to get lower in the order?

Could we trade next years first?

You can ask for approval. Given Henry is only 22 and we are a finals side I think it would be approved

Campo boys are years away from being fully fledged AFL players and no one knows how good they will be. We are on the Premiership window now and need to make the most of it.

Yeah , we are not a developing side . We are already developed and now is the time to strike .

Each to their own opinion.
Docherty, Acres with back up of Ollie Hollands? They have shown themselves to be quality. If we're debating Ollie Hollands not making our best 18, our wings are not so deficient that we'd blow a first round pick on another one.
We've got bigger priorities for our first round pick IMHO.

Binns… Cowan in a pinch… Walsh & Cottrell…

How many do we need?

It was only a matter of time that this would come out.

As you see Sidex (I PMed you yesterday with some info), its not me where this is coming from. Its not even news anymore. Its a cheap contract, and he's taking up a space, and a decision will be made either way. Doesnt look good for LOB.

And Dow's value is rising the more exposure he gets for those who dont believe that is happening.

Highlighted bits we've discussed on TC

I have only glossed over your PM, I'll get to it later, sorry I've been too busy.

You do realise the comment from Sam actually reinforces what myself and others have been saying regarding paying out his contract.
I've highlighted the important part in green just in case you accidentally skipped it.

Yeah, I don't think anyone's under any illusions that LOB is in Voss's plans, but a trade is the way to go about it, even a bullshit Setterfield trade.

I'm with you on this, 100%.
Every cent counts and if you can get even a bump of one or two places in the draft, it all helps.

Interesting post on X.
Of the players who had a bit of game time this season, Marchbank, Curnow, Hollands, Boyd and Cottrell are pretty low on the list.
