Charlie is possibly the best forward entry kick in the team. The vision and then the ability to pull those kicks off is ridiculous.

Cerra, Harry and Walsh do ok too. all laser guided. but Charlie’s GPS guided LR munitions are something to behold, it’s like there’s time for a drum roll as the ball rips from the wing deep into the danger zone.

Wouldn't hear a drum roll over the sonic boom.

That is seriously impressive.

He is making his mark. Damn he has some talent.

I loved the speed through the centre square to kick that goal, haven’t seen that before with him.

To paraphrase another poster, Dow said “Fog off” to Voss with that goal.

acres has gone from a hard running ball butcher to becoming an everywhere man and poised ball user.

never thought i’d say that in 2023. incredible in-season improvement from Acres. clubman of the year votes for Acres providing that example to his list-mates.

What sets Charlie apart from the others with those kicks into the forward 50 is the distance and speed on them.

It’s great that even if he is scragged out of it close to goal he can get up the ground and still influence the match like this. Generated two crucial goals thus way.

The thing for me is that they are playing as a very United team atm, great to see. You see a guy like Crippa looking to give it off, rather than trying to do everything himself ( a problem of past years ) , admittedly he was pretty much on his own then. They have great belief in each other, whoever comes in to fill a spot. I think that meeting at Ed Curnows place at the by round was a real turning point. Onwards and upwards blueboys.

I think in the first half, Crippa fell back a bit into his old habit of trying to do too much. And we were missing easy targets. And slowing the ball down too much. Admittedly, under intense pressure from the Saints.
But we lifted our own intensity, and went back to our recent winning style.
I was surprised at the end to learn that we’d won the 2nd half 51-10.
I was very nervous about this game.
A great win, overcoming a lot of baggage and history, incl the recent difficulty teams have after playing Collingwood.
And also, 7 starting 22 players out - Kane Cornes would say that Saints had no excuse… ;-)

My heart was in my mouth, looked like he got too close to the oncoming Saints player on TV.

Great goal.

The Acres play to set up Charlie in Q4 was absolutely top shelf, knocked the saints player on his ass then had the composure to not take the shot himself. All 4 of our last qtr goals were bloody superb, sounded like the roof was coming off on TV

Well done Michael Voss. Our second half forward structure & pressure won us the game.

I wonder if the 9 day break helped us, compared to their 7. In any event great win, a bit like in 1992 when we overran these turds after half time at Waverley.

Go Blues!

The day Tom Alvin's dad died from memory? Tommy still played.

When we hit the lead I stood up and cheered and nearly got king hit by a saints "supporter"

I remember this game well. Out at waverley. Dorotich went nuts in the second half. Think he kicked 6 from memory. Good times

The muppets that booed Stocker can take a trip out to the far side of Kew and have a good look at themselves.

Bloke was on the pine for more than half the game.

Get a flower grip.

Couldn't agree more . Short memories some people . I will never forget that game a few years back up at the Goldie . We where getting flogged and Adam Saad was distressed to the point of being in tears . It was Stocker who reached out to Adam . Yeah Stocker , the boy from the Grammar School reaching out to the Muslem kid when he was at his lowest ebb . Thats one hell of a decent human being to me . Despite his critics i hold the bloke in the highest of esteem myself .

I've never understood booing a player just because they left for another club.

According to "On the Couch" a few weeks ago, Charlie was no.2 for forward entry kicks in the competition.

Especially when it wasnt their choice. Henderson I understood. Touhy/Stocker/SPS/Casboult etc no.

That can't be right. Ronny Lerner's votes in the HS today were Nic Newman 3. Callum Wilkie 2. Brad Crouch 1.
The same Brad Crouch who was useless in the last quarter and contributed a total 0 possessions when the game was there to be won.
Blake Acres? No appearance.
