The Saints have had lots of injuries for large chunks of the year and Collingwood had key players out earlier in the season. Not to mention last year’s grand finalists Sydney missing Rampe and both McCartins for much of the year.

I think the point is how many are soft tissue, ie avoidable

Bit of a stretch to categorise all soft tissue injuries as avoidable.

Agree, but when you’re constantly getting soft tissue injuries it raises questions of the high performance program and player loads etc, as opposed to collision injuries which are largely bad luck or technique related and have little to do with the high performance team.

True, but the goal is to be as fit as possible which means being taken to the edge of the cliff and not going over. All the data collected on individual players is used to achieve this. But its no guarantee and there is always the risk of soft tissue injury for any elite athlete. And it always takes time to work out what is best for each individual

You're right, we do need to know more about the injuries, and I'm thinking you're referring to us supporters.

I'm sure Russell knows more about his players than he did at the start and end of his first year at the club.

If players keep getting soft tissue injuries, then send them off the the USA or whatever. Those players know we cant keep carrying them.

I'd rather improve on what we have and get more support and speciaised programs, but one thing is a must, every player had to be fit enough to play AFL footy to help us with a win.

Getting someone new to run the Strength and Conditioning will mean we have to start from the beginning, apply their hypotheses, suck it and see.

I think we will go backwards if we don't keep the best of what we have and know, and build on it. I don't think that's too hard.

I'm sure the club will conduct its annual review at the end of the season. The AFL has increased soft cap to enable that.

So, GC.

Yeah , changing canoes midstream is fraught with danger . Still , need to have a good hard look all the same . Just a look , not a witch hunt .
