Boyd's shorter than Kemp Gov Marchy and Weiters.

Our mobile talls need to put some body on their opponents.
Pies took uninhibited marks last week. Was embarrassing.
Kemp and Gov were too short for Cameron Mihocek and McStay.
Marchbank was Ok, he must have longer arms.

The other problem was our defenders didn't appear to be spoiling in Q1, looked like they were trying to be Leo Barry

There was a lot of good blocking by Collingwood talls last week which we struggled against. St Kilda do not have the same height as Cameron, McStay, Mihocek and the other tall (US bloke)

Marshall (201cm), King (202cm), Membrey and Caminiti (196cm)

Membrey is listed at 188cm. Marshall is a ruck not a forward, and King is still in doubt.

Cameron is a ruck as is Marshall. The US guy is a basketballer.
Membrey plays like he's 208 and has always given it to us. Hope he's quiet this week.
King I hope takes this week off as well.

Stocker dropped for the second time in 3 weeks.

Don't hear anyone complaining now.

Emergency.

Will come in for King.

And can everyone stop stressing about him - he did sweet FA against us earlier in the year.
He missed a few which meant he didn't kick his usual 4+

Fisher -strange selection in my view

Yeah, bit pox. It’s got that once-too-many-times-to-the-well feel to it.

Binns in, Fisher sub would’ve been my pick.

The complaint about Stocker is that we didnt get anything for him not necessarily that he was let go
It wasnt good business and we cant afford to give away players for nothing particularly those who we spent draft capital on and simply gave the Aints a free kick

I think we need S Durdin as sub given Fisher is in. No other coverage if we lose a tall

Why would anyone complain that Stocker got dropped from StKilda's team? His team is playing against us as well........FMD
If anything, I'm happy he won't be playing this week.

Good call

Bad luck to him. Still a chance for sub. Maybe Membrey. Bring 'em on.

Gresham made the 22. Good luck to him too. He might be ours one day.

Happy with the changes. I don't think we needed an extra tall to cover Gov. Remember we were playing Weiters, Kemp, and Gov as the only talls ever since Young got dropped after the Essendon* game, which just so happened to conincide with the end of our 6 game losing streak and the start of our 6 game winning streak. Young has only been back in the team to play ruck/forward against Freo and WC.

So for our whole 6 game winning streak we have had 1 genuine key defender in Weitering and 2 medium talls in Kemp and Gov. Last week against Collingwood Marchbank came in as an additional tall replacing a small, so now with Gov going out we're just going back to the same balance we had for the previous 5 weeks. It seems to be working! If anything, Marchbank has a bit of extra height and reach than Gov and plays a bit taller. FWIW Marchbank and Kemp are similar sizes Lever and May.

I also think it looks like King will be a late out for Membrey, which would be a win for us as King could stretch us for height whereas Membrey is only 188cm and a perfect matchup for Kemp or Marchbank.

I actually like the inclusion of Fisher. With all the outs, we need some more experience in the side. Fisher is 25 with 100+ games, I think he is a safer bet than bringing in Binns with 8 senior players already missing. I think people forget how many good games Fisher has played for us. I know he's been pretty ordinary this year, but so was almost everyone before the turnaround. I'm actually excited to see what he can do in this new free flowing game style, even though it seems his papers are stamped

That's about right frank.
I liked him. He played well enough.
We should have got something for him.

it really isn't the players unable to manage, it's our system, unfortunately mate.

i have a bunch of text message's here i'm sitting on that i'd love to publish here. there's nothing really stopping me... but anyway; it shows there's a level of ingrained arrogance at the club about strength programs and protocols.

for example, russell has the guys doing their conditioning on an Ultra G treadmill - non weight bearing. it gets the cardio into us, but doesn't laod the muscles up and (eventually as the season grinds on) strengthen them. it's just one of the reasons why we suffer so many soft tissues.

pies implemented pilates and yoga into their program - and look., no soft tissue injuries.

I'm sure there's players whose body types dont suit the rigours of AFL. I dont know who they are.

Arrogance of Russell you mean? He's in charge.

I'm sure the boys do weights every week if not nearly everyday of the week, but I think you are alluding to not enough, or not early enough.

I'd be astounded if they were not doing pilates and yoga after the Judd era introduced us to them. Judd did pilated 10 hours a week outside the club. If they aren't incorporating pilates and yoga in this day and age, after we spent a kings ransom to get Juddy to show us the way, then I would consider that arrogance and neglect of a well known benefit.

arrogance of the club, mate. i'll dm you

Not a bad summary Jake

I wonder what Voss will do with Fisher. I can't see him pushing out one of the small forwards

Yeah I’m keen to see him nipping around the packs through the midfield and providing some zip. I’d hope he can play a Shai Bolton kind of role

He had plenty of games last year where he got 20+ possessions and a couple of goals. He’s capable, just a confidence thing like the rest of team really

Not confident with the team we've named. Hope to be wrong of course but I think we'll get rolled comfortably.
