Port lose.

And 2nd spot still alive for the Blues!

(mathematically of course)

Carlton finish 2nd if..

1. Win all
2. Melb lose to Rich, Syd
3. Brisbane lose to Freo, Adelaide, Collingwood
4. Port lose to Geelong, GWS, Freo, Rich.

We now have a triple chance for the double-chance.

Say it ain't so

Final ladder:
1. Coll 80
2. Carl 58
3. BL 56
4. Mel 56
5. PA 56
6. Syd 54
7. WB 52
8. SK 52
----------
9. GW 52
10. Rich 50
11. Ad 48
12. Ge 46

Mathematically speaking of course

The Crows are back in it.

We are not out of the woods yet, not by a long shot.

Must beat the Saints!

It's looking pretty safe to rule out the cheats for an eight spot now.

Yes, watch out for Adelaide, and the Giants might cause enough upsets to get in, although their draw might be just too much - I'd rather we were safe before that last round, in case we're a bit flat.

And 3rd? No thanks - a final against Port in Adelaide, most likely. 2nd, sure. Then again... you really want to avoid interstate travel at any point. Why make it harder? It certainly didn't hurt the Swans in beating the Filth last year.

Just keep winning, Blues, and be confident that we can deal with any hand now.

LOL can we get in the 8 first before thinking about top 4?

It's not going to happen anyway - too far back - Melbourne won't drop that many games, dont underestimate them.

The best we can hope for is a home final, but even 7th/8th could have us play in Melbourne.

It's going to go to the wire.

I'll simplify it further...

If Richmond beat Melbourne tomorrow you'll all (well the optimists at least) be dreaming with me coz...

4th spot is ours by winning all our games and Melb losing to Syd in the last round.

Yup, the math on a top 4 spot really is That simple now.

(and for the pessimists worrying about losing a game somewhere...
I'm sorry, a reminder - Carlton just beat the top Two teams in the last fortnight!!!)

p.s.
I'm actually giving Melbourne 2 wins as it is, so not that hard to take their spot.

They've been a bit lucky the last two wins. They're gettable. But I hope they beat Richmond today, just to put some space between us.

Nice work JEZZARULES!

A bit pessimistic for the Dees tho eh? Losing Every game?

I'll settle for 3/5 for us to take their spot but hope you're right!

Making the 8 is far from assured for us.

Learnt way too many hard lessons as a supporter after being 8-2 last year

With Cera and Walsh out anything is possible.

Also, Coll,Port, Lions and Melb would be loading up on training to be flying in the finals. We will be fried by then after loading up during our reset.

All Carlton though. Give us the flag.

4 rounds to go.

3 out the 4 are teams currently above us with games in Melbourne.
The 4th is away at the GC.

If we make the 8 we will well and truly deserve it.

It's similar for a number of teams though. No one has a particularly easy run overall.

Richmond up at half time. Potentially another top 8 threat but also potentially opens up a spot in the top 4 if they get up

Let’s just hope the footy gods don’t come back to this thread like they did last year.

Richmond losing is a better outcome.

Baby steps. Make the 8 first!

Here's the thing: the difference between the Winners and the Losers.

The Winners are always optimists.
They look ahead to the Opportunity, relish and dream of it, plan for it, seize it.

The Losers are always pessimists.
They look over their shoulder, behind, fearing everything, seeing multiple threats.

The Winners become the Champions - they set their sight only on the Prize, the Trophy.
The Losers only hear the footsteps - unable to focus on success they fear even the shadows of their own pasts.

Winners don't think 'safe'.
They think Success.
