Carlton 23 and under side

B: Cowan Akuei Kemp
HB: Philp Lemmey O'Brien
C: Hollands Carroll Binns
HF: Durdin TDK Cottrell
F: Motlop O'Keefe Dow
Foll: Mirkov Walsh Cerra

Not a bad group. Odds are 2-4 will be gone at years end but we will also add 4-6 draftees/rookies. We need some KPP depth added

Good spot for long term success and keeping Salary Cap under control

Interesting.

OKeefe was a rookie pick for an LTI for Williams?
Cincotta was too, for Philp.

How many rookies doe we have.

I think we have 2 rookies over our quota.

A lot of talent there.

Still shits me to think first round picks Dow, LOB and Philp will be more first round write offs.

I think Lemmey has shown some good signs in the last 2 weeks in the VFL, like he did in the first half, in round 1.

If our on-field team can reach the same levels as our media and legal teams, we'll be unstoppable.

Grundy dropped by by the Dees…if we could get the same wage structure as they have he’d be a pretty handy upgrade on what we have.

I'd seriously chase him. Make a massive difference

Must have been a close call but the club sees something in him.

With question marks over Young's suitability and S.Durdin's availability, does anyone who watches the magoos think Akuei could meet our KPD depth requirement? His standing in the TalkingCarlton MVP standings is promising, but aside from that I know nothing.

I haven't stopped thinking about it.
All my conversations today with dees supporters has been around this.

I asked them to share their riches, and subsidise his contract a tad, coz he's proved to be not the same player as he was, wink, and Pies can continue to subsidise the rest, and TDK decides to stay to learn from him. Together costing us $950K. Thanks. Pitto and TDK can fight out the 3rd tall forward.

I don't think Grundy has the pace and defensive game, nor the ground ball prowess he once had to fit into Vossy's plan...neither does Pitto, but we've got Pitto locked away for 4 years, which is a great thing for the price. Hopefully TDK gets up to play vs Port and shows us the mobility like Young and SOS did.

If we keep winning like this and make finals LM will be interesting.
TDK was great on Saturday. If he keeps going surely we need to up our offer?
We have said we will go to the draft but we have bugger all picks

We currently have many players out of contract including TDK, McGovern, Silvagni, Dow, Fogarty, Plowam, Marchbank, Cuningham, Curnow

Yep , definitely up the offer to Tom . In three or four years it will look cheap . His best years are in front of him . We have put in all the hard work . What , let another Club reap the rewards ? I hope our list management team aren't trying to be too cute . You know , too clever by half and the only one you finish up outwitting is yourself .

I have no doubt Cook has reviewed our Salary Cap and will stop overpaying. It's now about paying good money but also selling the future

Makes me wonder of the point of signing Pittonet for 4 years

Still reckon this 2 year "bridging" contract with Tom would be a good idea. Cost us a lot less in the short term. Can re-evaluate everything in 2 years and should have more room in the cap to get closer to other club's offers should he earn it.

It would probably suit us but if he has a 5 year offer elsewhere, you cant blame him for taking it. Players are only a significant injury away from it all ending.

Yeah . Whats to re-evaluate ? its so obvious right now that Tom is on his way and is going to be one of the top Rucks in the comp .

I was leaning towards letting him go in return for a high 1st round pick, or two top 20 picks.
After Sat, and also a couple of his other games, I'm now leaning towards keeping him if we can. I wouldn't go crazy on the price - assume its 800k atm. Maybe up to 850 and/or extend timeframe. I wouldn't be going higher than what Geelong is offering - there you do get good lifestyle and footy culture. But, certainly after this year, their Premiership window is done for the forseeable future. IMO...
If he wants to go to StK or Swans for ridiculous money, I'd still let him go, pocket the picks and go for someone like Sean Darcy - sell future success hard (but need to back this up on the field for the remainder of the season). Or even give Young the ruck role in the VFl and see if that could work. He is tall, has good hands - there is a chance it could work, albeit small.
