fish has to be in the reggies for a minimum of 3 wks with no dropff imo ... but voss and the MC seem to have their favourites, and that's a stake they're willing to die on, it seems.

Jack used to competitive in the ruck, but not so much now. already undersized, doesn't seem able to get off the ground and even contest the ruck. maybe injury?

i'd like to see us get faster in the middle. so dow in for hewitt seems easy.

Cripps and dow hunting in close with walsh, cerra and blacres/ cotteril on the outside.

Young comes back to chop TDK out - and this is where tdk shows up. or doesn't; and we let him walk in 6 months.

Not really related to this match, but I was throwing out some old footy newspapers (1996 Inside Football) and came across an article on Kouta.

"Kouta's a Freak" was the heading.

26 disposals, 3 goals, 8 marks.... vs St Kilda May 1996
High disposals, goals and marks....in one player. Wow!

I doubt we will see anyone in Carlton's present team ever get these type of stats. Curnow...maybe?

"Koutoufides saw off five opponents- Daniels, Nathan Burke, Rod Keogh...." etc

Back to today's team - for what it's worth, would also like to see Paddy Dow in the team. Brings fresh energy at the very least. Need O'Brien for the passing to the forward line.

I've got the popcorn ready for tonight when you all will be disappointed again with Dow not included but Obrien probably will be. This should be fun
Playing 2 short tomorrow night if Obrien and Ed are back in

I just want to see us use a different method of forward entry, I dont want Lever and May taking 15 intercept marks between them. We just have to lower the eyes this week and hit up a leading target. We have been too stagnant in the forward line for too many seasons now, a change in method hopefully starts tonight.

McGovern needs to be dropped. Has done nothing.
I'd drop Ed also. Picking him as sub has no impact.
Acres disposal is shit. His kicks are to up and under
Gives opposition time to get back and spoil. He gets plenty of the ball but no impact.

6 or 7 changes for me. I know it's alot but has to be done

I've been a bit ambivalent about Dow this year but I hope the Dow believers get their way this week, & he plays well.

I also hope Voss thinks a bit outside the box & doesn't select Silvagni & Fisher. As another poster said, the injury hit might be a good chance to refresh the squad.

OK. No Fish, SOS. Can even avoid OBrien and still make a team of 23 who can compete. The cupboard is bare after that with players on injury list or coming back from injury, eg Marchbank, Cowan, Martin and Cuningham.

B: Weitering v Grundy. Kemp v Van Rooyen. Cincotta v Fritch
HB: Saad. Young v McDonald. Docherty

C: Acres Cripps Cottrell
F: TDK v Gawn. Kennedy Cerra

HF: Owies McKay Walsh
F: McGoverm C.Curnow Motlop

IC: Boyd. Dow. Ed. Fogarty
SUB Binns or OBrien

E: Honey. Silvagni. Fisher.

and the cupboard is bare after the abovementioned .. Mirkov isnt the answer. Gawn & Grundy cover ground.

Do you think our coaches can find a solution?

I seriously doubt it,.
Expect May and Lever to break the combined intercept mark record.

Seriously why can't Mirkov play?
He's been in the system a little while now, and is a unit.
Pies played Mason early doors.
Oh but hang on that is player development, right?

I see Port Adelaide are bringing their captain back via the SANFL to find some form.
Not suggesting Cripps himself be dropped, but when was the last time we dropped a big name or made a big name come back through the VFL?
Not including Juddy who played one game in VFL after a very lengthy lay off. Talking been out of the side for a week or two.

Round 1 last year, Cripps got 30, 3 goals and 6 marks…

Could Boyd go into the middle at all?
Maybe not just yet, but I wonder if he could be our Ratts, Laird or Sinclair?

Cox had four years of Div 1 basketball under his belt before being recruited to Collingwood. He still sat out for 12 months.

Mirkov coached girls basketball and played ammos.

Chalk & cheese.

Doubt it. Not sure he knows too much about finding the footy.

Bring Walsh into the centre. Hopefully that will improve our stoppage game.

Stack the team with half backs, expecting the game to be played in that area. We’ve got some good kicks from there, but that still leaves us 70-80m from scoring. If we can’t press up across (at least) the back of the square, we’re in a bit of bother.

Anywhere between 100-120 disposals out of McGovern, Saad, Cincotta, Cowan, Kemp, Doc & Boyd. If we’re going to get some quality on the ball going inside 50, we’ll need 20-30% of those to be won centre or better.

Mirkov also can only currently play first ruck, his presence is non-existent in any other position. Even as first ruck he has limited impact around the ground, I’d only consider him if both TDK and Pitt are unavailable.

I really hope we don’t do this again, make a Harry second ruck or drop him to VFL.

Yeah but it isn't like Pitto is taking lots of marks around the ground let alone kicking many goals

57 minutes of basketball. Total. Recruited from the girls basketball team where helped them during training as a dummy player.

Hoping we pick Plow for the melts to be honest
