Jarusa, as I tell my team it's more about quality than quantity, and can I just say how much I'm enjoying PatsFitztricks' work. Pat's bios on players I can only barely acknowledge as Carlton players (given my age, not their contribution to the Club) is spine-tinglingly good. Thanks Pat.

Look forward to reading each new one that comes up, they are top quality.

Some of my favourites.

Thanks Molsey - I appreciate your comments, and I'm pleased you enjoy my scribblings. For me, the Blueseum is a way of giving something back to this great Club, and I'm grateful for the opportunity. But it's Jarusa who deserves all the plaudits for his energy and his vision in getting the whole thing going. I reckon it's going to be huge. By the way, your stuff is bloody good too - please keep it coming.

The charity match is interesting, I had never heard of it before.

Wonder if anyone here actually went to it?

Yes, I did.

From memory we used the match very much as a practise match, with constant changes off the bench, players being tried in a number of positions, etc. So we were never going to win.

The following year there was a similar game between Hawthorn (83 Premiers) and the All-Stars, with the money going to the Olympic team. Don't remember who won, or if there was a game in 1985.

Thanks for the info Bort.

It's a small world after all.

Have just put some 1994 memories in... but need to check something. In our Semi Final loss to the Cats, did Silvagni go off injured? My memory tells me that Sos went off in the third quarter, and Ablett did the number on Hanna who had to stand in. Also, was this the game where Bairstow, Couch and Hocking pulled out?

And one other thing... Who is Paul Payne?

Can help you with a bit.

Ablett kicked 6 goals in that game.

As well as Bairstow Couch and Hocking as late withdrawals, the Cats were already missing Barry Stoneham and Michael Mansfield.

Cannot remember about Silvagni, but this page http://stats.rleague.com/afl/stats/game ... 40917.html shows that he only got 4 touches, so he may have went off injured?

Paul Payne was a Tatura boy (my home town) who had played 28 games for Melbourne and played 5 games (3 off the bench) for us in 1989 wearing the number 27 guernsey.

In a Mike & Dan writing hiatus, we've added a couple of articles to the Blueseum with a historical intent in mind:

'The Great Turnover of 2003' with all the ins & outs of 2003 and some of the competing theories:
http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-read_artic ... rticleId=3

'Top Tenners' with a summary of all Top 10 draft picks enjoyed (or otherwise) by the Blues:
http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-read_artic ... rticleId=4

Both have been listed in threads in TalkingCarlton but I thought this may be a useful reference point. Please PM me with any critiques you may have.

Jarusa! ....you come from Tatura?

Where Warby went after Carlton!

Where his son Peter came from to play with us.

I think Warby became a very good lawn bowler up there?

Yep, born and bred in Tat.

You know, the Warburton name does ring a bell but I just can't place it. Might have to ask mum.

Keith's profile is blank at the moment, if you have any memories of him or his son Peter as players your input would be most welcome.

For a fairly small town it produced a few players for the Blues at least 6 or 7. I used to go watch Tat (bulldogs jumper) play every week, help out with the scoreboard etc, good fun.

For some reason he is probably my most despised Carlton player. I better shut up.

The rather painstaking addition of Games to the Blueseum is continuing, with mini reviews of all games in 1993 and 1994 almost complete. Memories so far added to the Blueseum include:

* debut of Whitehead, Allan, Peter Green
* domination of Kernahan, Williams and Silvagni
* Sos's 10 goals against Footscray
* the night Modra kicked 13 on Sos, Sexton etc.
* the last games of Dorotich and Cavedon

What else can you remember from the era?

From 94 my main memory is of our late season thrashings of WCE & Rich at OO

After beating West Coast I though we were very good things to at least make the GF (what a disappointment followed)

I will hop on Blueseum in time & add my thoughts of the 90s…sorry I've been a slackarse so far guys, sounds like you're doing a great job.

Oh, that little 10 goal win against the team that had been leading the ladder pretty much all season?!?!?

Please jump on board - Pat and I are getting a little too intimate in the loneliness of Blueseum! 93 and 94 are done, and awaiting some real memories; next step is each game of 1995 which I am going to do over the next week. If you wanted to 'sponsor' a year - try 1996 or 1999!

Just to let you all know.

The Club has been using the Blueseum for the last few weeks.

It has been sourcing player profiles from the Blueseum for it's 'Who Am I' segment for the Thursday email update each week. An example ..
http://carltonfc.com.au/default.asp?pg= ... eid=248912

So the club is already benefiting from the Blueseum.

Just think, if you contribute to a player profile it might be used on the Club's official site to gain more visitors and more revenue for the club. :-D

There is an incentive to register and contribute.

The next step has to be for the Club to link directly in to Blueseum... but I guess for that to happen they would have to recognise it's existence publicly?

ps floppy haired flanker - which guru wrote this one?

SOS most definitely did go off injured in that game. It was a corky I think, was definitely a leg injury. He ran past us on the boundary trying to run it out. I suggested he should be played in the forward pocket because even on one leg he'd have had more of an impact than a few players.

I was watching with my brother and we weren't very impressed with anything.

A couple of the goals Ablett kicked were a little fortunate and he's been known ever since as 'Arsey Ablett'
