Im expecting a different Carlton to the one we saw in Sydney.

I'm expecting more overlap run, and fast play.
We will keep the ball on the move and play on more than we did on Friday.

When have you ever seen Saad avoid playing on and running to accept a handball. Never, till last Friday.

My only concern is the ruck and I would not risk playing just one against Nankervis and Soldo of whoever Tigers choose to ruck. No way would I give the Tigers the ascendency in the ruck, and with Jack, I think that's what we hand them. Two different types of rucks will be helpful. I like what we did in the ruck last year in round 1.

Speed is what the players have shown in the preseason. This may have been hampered a bit with Williams doing an ACL, but we have plenty of run in this side to get through Tigers defence.

Looked like a side working on a few things as opposed to being focussed on a win. Certainly weren't going at 100%

Add Cripps McKay McGovern Martin Newman Durdin and very soon Walsh and we will be much much better. Pittonet definitely needed the run

Not concerned at all

I'm not sure what to think TBH, although I think my optimistic side is weightier:
On the nervous nellie side, there were a lot of weaknesses from least year bobbing up again in both praccy matches.
On the optimistic side:
1) The most obvious difference b/w praccy matches and the real thing is pressure/intensity. Our game is built around that and when it comes, it makes a huge difference on the ability of opposition teams to transition freely like they did in the praccy matches.
2) While some flaws from last year were evident, we were also clearly working on different things including slowing the game down and other structural changes
3) Without 3 or 4 of our better players who will be available for round 1, we got smashed in the first quarter and, yes, it did look like Sydney were playing better the whole match BUT after 5mins into the 2nd quarter, it was pretty even on the scoreboard even thought we missed lots of easy shots (which is one of the worries from last year which remained...)

I'm really hoping we have improved our transition. If so, I am confident we will go well. If not, we will again be found wanting if opposition teams can halve our stoppage plays.
PS. I am fine with playing Pitto, TDK, SOJ in the same team. Just need to use them cleverly.

Honestly they'd be a better side without him and bringing a youngster in, so I'm glad he's playing lol.

I’m worried that we still can’t kick for goal.

Healthy respect for all of your opponents but no fear . But if i did fear a side it wouldn't be the Tigers . You would have reason to fear the Cats coz they won the Flag and in a canter . And i reckon the Dee's and Lions are gonna be right up there so i would have a smidgin of fear for those two .. Both have recruited superbly over summer ........................ anyhow , where was i . Ah yeah , the Tigers . Reckon we will see a different Carlton . Reckon we will debut a couple . Its out of three in Hollands , Cowan and Cincotta . For mine definately Hollands and Cincotta by a whisker over Cowan . And i want to see Carroll get a run sooner than later coz he has got the tools for the one's . Keep playing Carroll in the magoo's and those tools will be blunted .......................yeah , i reckon its gonna be a rocky first half of the season but i feel we will gain momentum in the second half and come home full of running . Thats what this killer preseason is all about . Building endurance .

We are too slow moving the ball and we bomb the ball too much. I will be pleasantly surprised if we win.

Watch us roll out the notorious injury crew or at least three-fifths of it (Cuners and Williams have already ensured they are out long term)...

McGovern
Martin
Marchbank

... all 3 haven't played a praccie game (McG had a VFL praccie game, I don't count that)

The more I think about round one, the more I think we’re going to get touched up.

Solution? I need to stop thinking about round one.

Isn’t this why the worry room was invented?
Or are we so past emotionally investing or been slapped around so much that it needs to be renamed…..
The weary room?

Hopefully Prestia and Short don't play - otherwise I don't like our chances.

Don't see why everyone is beating up on Cotchin . He has had blokes hanging off him since day one . He's been punched , kicked , scratched , you name it for his whole career . Every now and then when he's had a gut full he strikes back . Good for him . Our very own Diesel Williams had the same thing . In fact all the better players of the comp have had to put up with the same shit and are the worst in the world when they retaliate . Good on " em i reckon . Should be more of it .

We will win. They are average and we are too tough and a good side. 30 plus points
