I paid $40 for level 4. Not front but only about 15 rows back.
Were there many tickets left?

Is it fully ticketed?

I don't think so.
There is usually an area on level 4 allocated for walk up General Admission tickets.

B Newman/Cowan Young McGovern
HB Saad Weitering Docherty
C Acres Cripps Cerra
HF Silvagni/Martin De Koning Owies
F Curnow McKay Motlop
R Pittonet Kennedy Hewett
INT O'Brien, E.Curnow C.Durdin, Fisher, Plowman/Marchbank

Think 15-16 of them choose themselves. Two rucks to start off with please as I think there's an advantage to be had there. Flow on effect is probably only being able to have one of Silvagni or Martin. Rate Newman in that his absence was missed a lot more than I anticipated late in the year. Would love to play Cowan but think it's one or the other this early in the piece. Assuming we go with Marchy, Plowman if not fit given their tall forward line. Not sure who you make sub. Ed at this point.

So many options or combinations. I expect us to win

B: Docherty Young McGovern
HB: Cowan/Cincotta Weitering Saad
C: Acres Cripps O'Brien/Hollands
HF: Martin McKay Fisher
F: Charlie TDK Motlop
Foll: Pittonet Hewett Cerra
Int: Kennedy C.Durdin Newman E.Curnow Silvagni

I can't split Cowan/Cincotta or O'Brien/Hollands for spots
Do we go with 2 rucks or Jack as second ruck? Can we play all three?
Docherty defence or mid?
How soon will Walsh be back?

Apparently Noah Balta copped a snap in the bouche in Altona today.

If Cowan maintains an upward curve, Docherty will play more midfield time. Almost as a high half back. It’s been so long since we’ve had a clear development path for young players that the Cowan’s situation requires a double take.

Oddly enough, the Docherty question isn’t immune to the ruck solution.

If we’re going to win our way into the finals, our forward group needs to find another 20-25 possessions per game. If not, our intercept set up is just going to be pushed back into the D50 again.
Rotations are limited, so it can’t be expected that the resting ruck is on the interchange. He’ll have to go forward with the simple brief - block for Harry/Charlie or bring the ball to ground. If he’s a hindrance on those extra 20-25 possessions, it won’t work.

My gut feel is Voss wants to play two big men. Pittonet & TDK is a great combination if they can stay fit. For me Jack then playing makes us too tall. Three talls up forward with Martin is more than enough. Cripps Kennedy can also go forward and mark

I really don't know

As for Docherty I like him in the midfield as he adds something different. I am confident that Cowan or Cincotta can step up to help Saad Newman. Issue is we have Cripps Kennedy Cerra Hewett Curnow Dow Hollands Carroll that can all play there and are fit. Walsh will be back by Rd 4. I also noticed during pre season Fisher Durdin Motlop all having time in the middle

Whatever they do I am happy with. Just not easy to pick

Agree

I have a lot of faith in everything Carlton, and expect improvement in belief and game plan, let alone players with another preseason under their belt.

That is big news.

Something serious has happened, given he's only 26yo and an Premiership player.

He still had 3-4 years of footy income.

Cotchin took his spot up forward?

Sonsie & Rioli coming on as well… Taranto, Martin, Bolton, Graham.

Might not be anything sinister about it. He’s not getting a game & may as well take a year off & drop back into country footy for cash.

Or, maybe there’s a gap in the kids party circuit that he can fill.

He's been a footy nut from 6 years of age. Not blessed with the skills of plenty of kids who have been overlooked, he got to the AFL with 100% commitment and doing more than anyone else. Had sprint coaches, home gym, fitness coaches etc as a junior and he applied his total life to them. He left no stone unturned to get an opportunity in the rookie draft.

So to be a 3 time premiership player with the limited ability he has is a huge credit. But that fanaticism burns you out and I'd suggest that's where he's at. Recently married, a very close family who all work in the family business. It's time for other stuff. Congratulations to him. He's achieved far more than thousands of players who have significantly more ability than him. but there's none with more determination.
