Well, it makes sense that we don’t need to hold onto our Hay(es) if we end up with Acres…..

Would have thought your Hayes and your Acres would complement each other

Even a quarter of Acres would be the Great Carlton Dream

Being Carlton we’ll probably get the leg with the bung knee.

I wonder how Acres would've gone against North in the 90s? I guess they would've put Horse on him....

Negativity or is it humor or sarcasm against our club??? This cannot be!

And if it was the eighties they could have put Plough on him .

I think we need both Greene and Acres.
For those of us old enough to remember 'Green Acres', starring Eva Gabor

Here's Gary Buchenaras rating of our list

Quote:
It can be a very cruel game, a missed goal or two over a season was the difference between playing finals and missing out again.

But we have seen the development of Carlton over the past few years, and no doubt with the arrival of Michael Voss there is also a far harder edge to this group. With 22 A/B and rising stars players on their list it should give the long-suffering Carlton fans some real belief that they are now in a period where finals football is a must. In fact, they should be a top-four side that has real claims of winning a premiership with the talent and depth at their disposal.

Quote:

A

Patrick Cripps, 27

Harry McKay, 24

Sam Walsh, 22

Jacob Weitering, 25

Charlie Curnow, 25

Adam Cerra, 22

Adam Saad, 28

B

George Hewett, 26

Sam Docherty, 28

Jack Silvagni, 24

Zac Williams, 27

Matthew Kennedy, 25

Lachlan Fogarty, 23

Tom De Koning, 23

Jack Martin, 27

Nic Newman, 29

Zac Fisher, 24

Marc Pittonet, 26

Lewis Young, 23

Ed Curnow, 32

Matt Owies, 25

Lachlan Plowman, 28

C

Paddy Dow, 22

Lochie O’Brien, 22

Mitch McGovern, 27

Brodie Kemp, 21

Caleb Marchbank, 24

David Cuningham, 25

Jordan Boyd, 23

Sam Durdin, 26

Will Setterfield, 24

Alex Mirkov, 22

Matt Cottrell, 22

Rising Stars

Jesse Motlop, 18

Corey Durdin, 20

Needs More Time

Jack Carroll, 19

Sam Philp, 21

Josh Honey, 20

Domanic Akuei, 20

DELISTED

Luke Parks, Oscar McDonald, Jack Newnes, Liam Stocker, Will Hayes

List Breakdown:

A Grade = 7

B Grade = 15

C Grade = 11

Rising Star = 2

Need more time = 4

Strange how he weighs in the previous year's performance to this year's. I think each year should be rated on its own, and Docherty is an obvious AA candidate after an A Grade performance this year.

This is what he said about Docherty and Cerra and their ratings.

Quote:
Sam Docherty is a bit unlucky to be rated as a B grader but that was purely down to his missed season last year. Another consistent season in 2023 and he will jump to the A grade level.

Quote:
Adam Cerra I have as an A-grader as he was very good at Freo. Despite his injuries, I think he’ll get even better and be a star A-grader.

Fogarty a B Grader? Not on my watch. Neither is Plowman.

Quote:
Lachie Plowman has traits that are hard to find. Others may see it differently but I believe he doesn’t waste too many possessions.

Maybe Gary looks at stats alone, and like Plows Disposal efficiancy...he should look at metres gained too. Young is a bit the same I guess, but Young's marking is a standout, hence gone up the ranks this year and now a B Grader.

McGovern, Marchbank and Boyd are not C Graders imo.

Cottrell is a rising star for me too.

Feel like Jackson deal gets done, which unlocks the Lobb and Logue trades, and then you probably sort out Acres, Hill and Henry from there.
If that stalls, and given Freo have no second or third round pick this year, hopefully that order gets reversed, and deal gets done for a second round pick.

Pick 10 and the Jones pick (assuming it's start of 3rd) for Pick 13 if it syncs up with the intel on who we'd want to draft first is probably the best outcome?

Interesting take by Buckenara . He thinks we are in a Premiership window in the next 3 to 5 years . He rates our list highly so understandable . Reckon he is close to the mark and really we don't have any excuses . Time is now .

Think a lot will have to go right for that to happen. We can't organically improve the list much more than what it is currently, and will probably require a lot of good faith to maintain.

I mean if we can pull a father/son pick or two, or find a gem from the VFL late in the draft, fantastic, but not sure we can rely on goodwill from the likes of McKay/TDK next year if we have a disappointing year and not get close.

While my preference is to keep both it won’t be the end of the world if one leaves.

IF and that’s a big if, we thought McKay wasn’t going to resign I’d trade him this year. I’ll be very shitty if we only get a compo pick for losing him

I'm OK with him staying or going, so long as the deal is in our interests. If we're offered pick 1 or a couple of early firsts for him, take it. If we can get him for another two year deal on below market wages, amazing.

Like you say - losing him for a pick in the early teens from free agency compo, or signing him up to a five year deal are awful outcomes.

It’s hard to believe that we might have cap problems just 2 years after under paying.

If we lose players due to cap position Austin needs to go
