Let’s repeat. 4 goals up at 3/4 time with momentum and 0.6 to 5.1 in the last. Inexcusable, learned nothing from last week other than to shit themselves. Should never ever ever lose a game set up like that.
Loved Cerra’s game 2 big goals and just class and toughness.
Devastated like the rest of you

No...some here are genuinely happy we did not win today, believing that losing in the first final would not teach the team the lesson it needs to learn.

Still had it in our control but this type of crap doesn't help.

wow

SOJ clearly blocked the Cwood player. All he had to do was hold his ground. However, I'm not sure about the blocking free on Weiters soon after that which cost us a goal. BUt I haven't had a good look at it.

Do you not think SOJ was pushed?

Quaynor wasn’t pushing. He was holding on.

It was a clear block from Jack. Those half dozen frames are far too kind.

I’ll say it again
It comes back to recruiting and List Management
It goes back to 5 years ago
Our 3 top 10 picks around that time OBrien Dowand SPS have all been misses
Setterfield cost us 2 good picks
If we are fair dinkum we need to delist players like him
Mc Govern cost us pick 26 28 and McAdam

On top of this we have Martin and Wiiliams on big money long term deals

Good list management gets you into finals
IMO it’s the most important thing with regards to success
Richmond’s 3 flags had on average 9 blokes who weren’t top 50 picks in the draft

It makes it very hard to win big games when it matters if your depth is tested

WAlsh was obviously a big loss but we haven’t been the same since Hewett stuffed his back
Kennedy has been a big loss too
Look at Collingwood
They have recruited very well with late picks in the draft and rookie picks
It can be done
The Lewis Young SPS trade has been a win but we really have to get List Management right over the next 2 years
Why get Hayes in the midseason draft
A good VFL player and no upside
Our top end talent is top shelf but our depth is crap

Some tough and smart decisions need to be made over the next 2 years otherwise the window won’t happen

Delist Setterfield? Yes it's inside mid or bust but with the injury concerns over other mids he's staying.

So it wasn't Quaynor that pushed SOJ into Cameron?

Your right. Useless flower umpires. Then again Quaynor must be really strong to have moved SOJ that easily. It's games within games sometimes.

It is only now that I am able to post I am so upset. BUT for the team we had in it was actually a mighty fine effort today.

Williams first game back in weeks.
Cerra not expected to play but did.
Cripps taken down by JSOS but kept going.
Saad suspect all game.

just imagine if these 4 were match fit all game.

Not playing

Walsh
Kennedy
Newman
Hewett
Boyd

just imagine if these 5 were on the field.

Nine running players. Five not even in the team.

We do not need new players, we need fit players.

And a little tinkle with our system.

Now I am off for another Valium.

We have a list of players who, with very few exceptions have experienced very little success in their AFL careers.

Winning culture, how do you instill that in a club? Not just the expectation of success, but the confidence to prevail when the going gets tough. You could see from around twelve minutes to go in the last quarter that it was a case of can we hang on, the team reasserting control and kicking away seemed very unlikely.

So many terrible first quarters this year, so many quarters where we have been held goal less. Our best is very good, but the inconsistency across four quarters has been a real weakness.

I couldn't care less who takes out the flag now. I can't bring myself to even think about next year, I do wonder if I'll live to see another flag.

Richard Pratt once said, do not get the best available, get the best.

That is what should happen to our medical and rehab departments.

About the flag, you cannot care if the tiges or magies win? Surely not. Any of the others who cares.

Busted there arse Teddy for sure . Gave it there all they did but couldn't finish it off . Dumb footy yes , but not lack of effort . Pies were very slick between the arcs i thought which we couldn't counter .

Pies were slick. They are a running team. We needed our runners to counter. Didn't have them.

For those that didn't want us to win today, would a draw have satisfied, meaning we would have played Collingwood again?

As gutted as everyone else here. Yes, losing today hurt a little more than last week but we only won 2 of the last 8 games and one of those was against the Eagles.

This year we lacked 'Continuity'. You need continuity to build understanding and trust out there. We could never get the same 18 or 22 playing consecutive weeks. It was a revolving door week in week out and the injuries were long term.
Anyway, dare I say it ....... Looking forward to 2023. Just need to keep those medical room visits to a minimum.

Yeah, I really don't want to hear from the players at the moment. About how much that hurt. Or how many learnings they got. I guess Mad Monday and post-season will spare us that. I hope the MC does use the word 'choke' internally to the players. Because they did.

Don't mind McRae but not too happy with these comments after today's game ......

"A lot of stuff was out of our control in the third quarter. I thought the rub of the green sort of went their way with decisions that were maybe not there."

Just take the win Craig and be happy.
