Dow pushing for selection all year. It would be nice to know the MC inner thoughts as to why he cannot get a game.

I know the family. He is happy and know where he stands. Improving all the time. His time will come

That's good news.
I would hate to lose him after the work that has been put into him this year and then we don't even get to see how he goes.

Voss needs to tell players that if they decide to kick around the corner when they're 45+m out and/or dead in front and they miss they have to do 25 push-ups.
Right there on the ground.
Immediately.

@#$%&! me.

I was told yesterday by someone at the club that the review conducted last year (and report done by Power) highlighted how bad our development of younger players has been over the last few years. Worst in the AFL was the comment. This combined with COVID and lack of games for reserves has lead to poor performances/improvement by our younger players.

Voss & Co couldn't believe how confused and ill prepared for AFL football our younger players were. Comment was that players like Dow, O'Brien, Setterfield, Cottrell, Stocker, Kemp, Fisher etc were effectively being treated like new recruits this year.

TDK and JSOS getting similar general stats (including pressure). I'd bring in Pitto and give one of them a week off.
I don't believe we can play Harry, Charlie, Jack and a resting ruck in the front half.
IMHO, I'd go with TDK as he provides a better aerial contest.

They won 4 of the 5 opening games with that set up - interesting that you think it wont work now

We are ranked 18th in the comp for hit outs - Pitto has to come back .Surely Jack can play the role that Honey has been doing

So what day this week will we find out Walsh and/or Weitering are in a moon boot and/or have a syndesmosis?

I’m tipping a BF post on Wednesday followed by a club announcement on Thursday.
:yikes:

Yes, I am a pessimist.

Wow. Surprised you didn’t throw in Hewett with a bulging disc and confirmation that Williams, Boyd and Cuningham were done for the year

I suspect Walsh will not come up, it looked bad on the replay.

I'd go

B: Docherty Young McGovern
HB: Plowman Weitering Saad
C: Setterfield Cripps O'Brien
HF: Cerra McKay Fisher
F: Silvagni Curnow Honey
Foll: TDK Hewett Walsh
Int: Kennedy Cottrell Pittonet Newman (Marchbank)

Motlop & Durdin unlucky but I don't know how you fit others in? I don't like dropping two smalls either. :yikes:
Owies Martin Williams available very soon as well and Dow is playing well in the 2's

Nice problem to have

That's great they've recognised what most of us knew and are actually trying to fix it.
You can already see the improvement of all of those mentioned in both the VFL and AFL.
It's been great to have something to look forward to and knowing it is actually happening, instead of hoping it is.

It did. He would have received an injection but I am sure he will be very sore today.
Fingers crossed it is nothing serious.

Pitto has to play TDK looks like he is running on empty
In any case need to integrate Pitto back in
Hewett as well would be handy

I very much doubt we would drop two small forwards for Pitto & Hewitt. I have heard suggestions that Pitto's return could come at the expense of Honey, which means a bit of a change to our structure and rotations, but you'd still keep 2 of C.Durdin, Motlop and Owies in that mix.

I think a more likely way to get Pitto & Hewitt into the team is to leave out one of Honey+C.Durdin+Motlop, and one of Setters+LOB+Cottrell, with someone like Walsh or Cerra doing spells on the wing. But it's hard to see Setters being dropped after his efforts v. Giants, and LOB was pretty good too, while Cottrell gives us so much versatility and run it seems a bad idea to leave him out.

I'm glad I don't have to make these calls. But someone (Walsh?) will pull up injured anyway so no worries.

No way we’re dropping two small forwards without bringing any in

Maybe Plowman (who wasn’t bad yesterday) could be the excess tall

I definitely want to see Honey further up the ground. Big, strong, great engine and can kick the ball a mile. I think he is wasted as a small forward

OUT: Plowman Setterfield O’Brien Honey

The extra outside defender is a necessity if we go with the second ruck. So, the squad is 8-8-6 and, for the most part, 6-7-5 on field to give the talls a bit more space up front.

For what it’s worth, I think this is the side that will make a mess of Brisbane the following week.

Setterfield and Plowman are going nowhere after their games yesterday. Honey and/or Motlop out (both if Owies is fit).
