I don’t think the match committee will make four changes, they’ll make maybe three at most, with one being forced by Hayes suspension.

I am expecting LOB, Pittonet and maybe one of Guv or Marchbank.

I don't think we have made more than 3 changes all year so you may be right. With 5 weeks to go how keen will Voss be to get his best players in asap?

I see Marchbank McGovern Pittonet O'Brien all Best 22 at the moment. Setterfield & Dow are pushing hard and even Fogarty's form has been good. Martin & Owies aren't far away. Interesting times

Interesting time's alright . Cant come up with a best 22 myself . If they are all fit who to leave out . Pitto and Gov in for sure but after that ?

Yep. Pitto & Gov definitely and probably Marchbank.

Good chance Williams will be back before finals. Boyd 50/50

If we can move past Newnes Plowman even Newman we are a better side. Will improve us dramatically.

We then need names like O'Brien Durdin Motlop to go to the next level

I reckon you may be on the money.

On that basis the back 7 would be:
Marchbank Weitering Williams
McGovern Young Saad

and Docherty

Nice!

Boyd, Newman and Plowman as backup in the two's.

Which is actually a good sign for the way the team is developing IMO.

Beaten across the entire ground yet only lost by 5 goals with a handful of those being that cheap they should've been standing on a street corner.

I think Boyd will become a big part of our defence. He is the lockdown small defender we have needed for years. He’s tough, good runner and an elite ball user. I think he will make us much better.

Boyd Docherty Saad running from defence makes us dangerous.
McGovern & Weitering are also very good ball users

May allow a fit Williams to play Wing which will help us as well

I hate to be the devils advocate but even with the BS 23 man (Nafan) playing for them, if they kicked straighter we would've copped a hiding.
It was a pretty insipid performance across the ground, but at least we have something to aspire to.
And I trust Voss will do exactly that.

If Carlton kicked straighter most matches we'd probably be sitting comfortably inside the top 4 :P

This is true.
But they just had more cohesion as a group and won most of the positions on the ground, especially the ones we are strong in.
I think with a fit team we will give them a run for their money though.
Or at least I hope so.
I would really love to be the team that knocks them out of the finals.
A Richmond, Geelong double would be nearly as good as the cup itself.

My guess this week

B: Docherty Young McGovern
HB: Cottrell Weitering Saad
C: Newnes Cripps O'Brien
HF: Cerra McKay Fisher
F: Silvagni Curnow Motlop
Foll: Pittonet Hewett Walsh
Int: TDK Kennedy Newman Durdin (Plowman)

Cottrell to "tag" Greene

Missing Marchbank Williams Boyd Owies maybe Martin from my Best 22

Cotts on Greene, I'd like to see how that goes.
Not sure if Greenes agility and smarts will get the better of him though.
Both have great endurance so it could be a good match up.

Either that or they've packed it in for the season in which case we should win comfortably.

I like the way Cottrell has shutdown Hill & Smith and it allows Docherty & Saad a bit more freedom. Just my thoughts

Greene is better overhead than those two. I'd also argue he is a smarter player and better player than them too.
Smith is just about done IMO. Hill had a big first quarter against us and has shown the odd flash since joining the aints but for the most part been average at best.
Not taking anything away from Cotters here. Credit to him and the way he has improved his overall game, but I see Greene as one of the few who could rip the game away from us.

I think they are good thoughts, I just hope Cotts can get the job done on him if that is his role..........the odds are in Greenes favour though.
IMO he is the best small forward in the comp by light years, I would love him at the club.
