This was a wrong decision/suspension.

Why wouldn’t you at least challenge it? FMD we just take it as it’s given.

I'd keep Motlop in, he's developing nicely and has form. Giving Durdin a spell is a good idea but I'd want another small forward to take his place rather than a repurposed mid or wing, so I'd keep him in until Martin or Owies is ready.

I seem to recall Plow getting towelled by Toby Greene last time, or is my memory failing me again? If I'm right, I'd consider a return for Gov if fit. Not exactly an obvious matchup, I'm thinking more of a fight fire with fire approach, make Toby put in a defensive shift to stop Gov's rebound skills.

Setters and LOB for Hayes and Cottrell I can go with. Cottrell as medisub.

Kemp for Plowman. If someone can tell me why Plowman is in the team on current form.

I used to say that Plowman was a foot soldier that every team needs but not on current form. He is a liability.

I'm pretty sure Plowman played on Toby when we played them up there, & did well.

If by current form you mean from 2016 then I’d have to agree with you.

This was a wrong decision/suspension.

Andy Maher was critical of Carlton for not challenging it.
He said the club let him down and had it been a high profile player such as Walsh or Cripps they would have challenged it.
I think he may have a point.

I thought Newness was pretty flaky too.

Hayes and Docherty will probably both be suspended for dangerous tackle and choosing to bump the head instead of tackling respectively.

TDK’s shoulder also looked sore.

I’d look at bringing in Guv and Pittonet for two of these three depending how the tribunal and injuries turn out.

Owies should return via vfl.

I saw the Hayes tackle and not sure why he would be rubbed out. It wasn't a sling tackle.
I don't remember the Docherty bump?

Hayes will be rubbed out because the player he tackled knocked his head on the ground due to having his arms pinned

The right arm wasn't pinned.

Yeah but Carlton…..

Oh yeah forgot we'd played them this year. I was thinking of 2021.

I'd also considered Kemp for Plow, but I think experience matters against a crafty bugger like Greene.

I thought Cottrell played well.
Tagged and organised some of those with more experience who were asleep at the wheel.

I’d hate to lose Cottrell pace, effort and contested work.

I admire a lot he did on Saturday night. How old is he? how many games has he under his belt?

I’d drop Durdin if we were dropping inexperienced players before Cottrell.

Cottrell I would play on Greene. Allows Docherty & Saad freedom
Pittonet McGovern Setterfield O’Brien back in
Durdin dropped. Needs to go back and work on a few things
Stocker is NOT a defender. Play him in the middle in the 2s
Plowman as sub. I hate younger players as sub. They need games.

I like your thinking FB.
I liked what Stocker did on Saturday, and I would like to see him in the guts too….and the only place to do that is the reissues, but he was ok, whilst Boyd and Williams is out

I’m going to this game because I’m sure he wouldn’t be umpiring us 2 games in a row.

I will buy tickets to our games after I see the umpires named in future. it’s pointless going to games Naiffen #22 is picked to umpire our games

I'll tell you what McKay had want to pull his finger out.,
He has been terrible the last 2 weeks.
I know he kicked 5 against WC but that was against WC and his first half was terrible, as was his entire game against Geel.
Yes delivery was poor but he was also toweled by DeKoning who read the flight of the ball better than he did.
Several things are frustrating me about Mckay...

1. He isn't holding marks. Granted some of these are tough but at the end of the day the best key forwards hold those sorts of chances. Many times of late he has been on the lead and dropped marks. Yes they are sharp leads and sharp kicks but he needs to do better bec the best forwards catch these more times than he does. And in one one ones he is being pushed aside too easily. He is a monster of a man but he isn't being tough enough in contests right now.
2. From 50m out he is hopeless. Can't kick across the body that far and his drop punt is no better.
3. He isn't working hard enough in contests when the ball isn't delivered on a silver platter. The ball won't always come in how you like it and big forwards need to fight for their wins and he isn't fighting near enough right now.

Weitering also needs to lift.
I know it is tough missing games and having to find the touch and rhythm again with your fellow backs but his first 2 games back have been terrible. Twice against Geel he was nowhere near his man Tom and that equated to 2 goals. Just terrible. And then he and Young together fluffed a chanced to mark near the boundary. Weiters looks like he is stoned out there. Fkn lift Jacob. You're a VC FFS.

Spot on

Yes. I hope to see Stocker get a good run at it and Setterfield a run through right the middle, play where he was drafted for.

I got an email reminding me to use my membership tickets as almost out of time. If any TC people here need a ticket I can try to get it and send it through, if that kind of thing is allowed?

Spot on. Let's not forget Geelong lost to Hawthorn earlier this year. They're in form at the moment and we didn't play anywhere near our best, but we're still only 2 wins behind them. Our trajectory is up. How good we become and how quickly we get there is yet to be determined.

"Old Carlton" would turn up expecting a win and get their arses handed to them. Going to take a long time to get past that expectation.

Taking my 10 y.o. son. He has a Charlie's Crew membership.

Do I have to somehow find a way of booking for 2 on the app?

Yep, exactly.

I guess everyone (including me) is looking for the defining moment where we beat a team above us and break this WLWLWLWL cycle. I thought that moment was against Freo, but then we capitulated against the Saints the following week. :banghead:

The Cats are in exceptional form at the moment. I don't think anyone can beat them right now. That may change in 3-4 weeks.

It's great that we are now very likely to make the finals, but given where we have been on the ladder most of this year, it would disappointing not to finish 6th or higher so that we can at least get one home final. I would hate to have to play Brisbane, Freo or Sydney in an elimination final on their dung heaps.

If we can be professional and methodical, we can win the next 2 well and then really set ourselves for the Melbourne game at the G. Win that and the confidence would go through the roof.
