Why do we fear the Saints at Marvel?

Facts:

- We beat them comfortably there last year in our last meeting
- We are undefeated at Marvel this year
- Their dominance over the last 15-20 years has nothing to do with the venue, and more that we were a basket case, and when we were half decent they were challenging for the flag

We bring our game and intensity from the weekend, we win.

Concern I have, aside from whether our team can be UP again, is whether Kemp gets exploited more this Friday night. Don't get me wrong I thought he did well all things considered. But he did get outpointed badly in the air twice so if it happens 4 times this week that's a quarter of a winning score conceded. The reality is he shouldn't be playing on true talls but we no choice. I'm just worried we might get bit this Friday.

Don't need to worry about Kemp or any other of our backs. If the ball only goes in there under immense pressure it is no issue. We win the midfield battle, maintain field position and the ball then our backs have a nice day.

GO BLUES!

For the nervous nellies, who will we miss from our real best 22 against the 'aints.

Cerra is back. Weitering another week. Pittonet another couple. That's about it. The others are fringe. Sure it would be nice to have Marchbank, Boyd and the like in but they haven't really played enough this year to be included

Williams and McGovern were best 22 earlier this season when we had a healthy list.
I can't see why that has changed.

It's changed because Keogh says they are overpaid hacks

Saints form line all year is a bit strange. Been quite underwhelming all year but a couple stand out games. But there last 2 months or so has been very average.

Agreed

Good thing is when Russell says Werk X that usually means the player has had a good training load and is ready to roll

Still might be a tad rusty bec nothing beats real senior games

But by and large they're ready to go

Yep all those years of heartbreak, I'm nervous about every game. We gave Richmond a six goal start, Freo a three goal start, must not let it happen against the Saints. If we get on top early this mob will fold (again) must belt them early.
Nearly every winner on the weekend gave the other team a start

So we are on trend! I'll try to stop worrying now.

100% Agree. Williams & McGovern at best are best 22. We have just covered well for them. Not established yet but Boyd was really adding something to our side as well. Tough and a very good ball user

I think people also underestimate McDonald. He was picked ahead of Young who has been fantastic

Blues midfielder Adam Cerra likely to return against the Saints Friday night. Jacob Weitering very unlikely, Jack Martin still a week away @9NewsMelb

3. Heat on Saints
4. Saints big resigning
5. The worst one of all - Orange Socks

I think Martin's days are numbered. Seems his body is eternally struggling with the demands of AFL footy.

Everyone's days are numbered; that's the life cycle.

Give me a number for Martin.

Previously not a good omen but now a reminder to the players of the ranga in the coaching box who will be tearing them a new one if they play soft.

Williams yes.

McGovern no as he is injured more often than not..

I didn't think OMac looked that good when he played the early games and Young has been a rising star this season.
