Saints are on the ropes

Apparently the usual WWOS bullsh!t and both are likely to play

Lots of positive press about Carlton at the moment - too much so for my liking. I hope our boys aren't drinking their own bathwater or else the Saints will make us pay.

We’ve had many tests this year.
The next one is how we perform with so much public praise.
This is a three-week challenge for me beginning with the Saints where we’ll be favourite against a team that will come out with a point to prove; then a danger game against the Weagles in Perth with close to their best team on the park where we’ll be unbackable favourites; and then a litmus test match against the Cats - one of the form teams of the competition in another 8 point match.

There's a hoodoo we need to overcome: that's a test.

We have never won a Carlton respects game.

Come on and take that monkey off our back too boys.

Plenty to play for. Lose and you may miss Finals losing to teams like Saints. :yikes:

Esp if Cerra is back, the midfield could really thrive.

Huge game for TDK. Richmond knocked the ball into space and got us on the outside.
Other teams with strong rucks will try the same. Ryder and Marshall will be a challenge

Yeah, but what if TDK dominates??
He was immense against Darcy who is one of the top young/large ruckmen.

TDK played his best game as ruck, but he didnt dominate...but sort of broke even despite the stats favouring Darcy.
The eye test told everyone TDK is more exciting to watch than Darcy.

Pitto killed the 2 Saints rucks in the preseason.

Kennedy inan interview today with SEN said we were missing Pitto's strength in the middle and TDK needs to improve his running capacity, so TDK will be challenged again as he does every week.

Its up to our mids to read the room and not get caught out, or in at the ball ups and centre square bounce.

TDK has improved a percentage point or two on a weekly basis. This year has been incredible to expedite his development.

We really need to break their will as early as possible by brutalising them in the midfield. And then putting a score on the board.
(And then continuing to do so for the rest of the match as well. )

Like most weeks, we’ll go as our midfield go. If our midfield can get on top, we’ll take care of business. The Saints midfield isn’t near as good as the Freo midfield but I’m expecting them to come out firing after a couple of bad performances and a smashing in the media. Our midfield perform like last week, we’ll win.

Off topic, but do we have yet another bye in the VFL this week? WTF is wrong with this league. How can you have a reserves team that plays every second week? How can you develop players without any continuity?

This is yet another milestone match for us. StKilda at the Dome has been a bad fixture for us for a long time.

And coming off a win, our players & coach have been on media street - meanwhile, the Saints (touted as a top 4 contender a month ago) are getting bashed in the media, but have key players coming back…..all the elements are there for another classic banana peel game….
:yikes:

Clearly I have trust issues and I need Carlton to show me how to love again….

This is the same AFL that thinks it is OK for a player to purposefully knock the living daylights out of an opposition player, have the injured player take no further participation in the game (and probably the following too mind you) and the player who didn;t the knocking out go on and play a big part in a close win.

At least if we lose the nuffs will have an excuse lined up with the whole Carlton respects thing (we're too woke).

Concern I have, aside from whether our team can be UP again, is whether Kemp gets exploited more this Friday night. Don't get me wrong I thought he did well all things considered. But he did get outpointed badly in the air twice so if it happens 4 times this week that's a quarter of a winning score conceded. The reality is he shouldn't be playing on true talls but we no choice. I'm just worried we might get bit this Friday.

Yeah, I know there’s a bit of love around for Kemp (and credit to him for his efforts last Saturday) but hopefully we don’t have to go back to that well. I think his future in the game is in a different role.

Yep all those years of heartbreak, I'm nervous about every game. We gave Richmond a six goal start, Freo a three goal start, must not let it happen against the Saints. If we get on top early this mob will fold (again) must belt them early.

Nearly every winner on the weekend gave the other team a start
