FYI, for all our injury worries, I'm pretty impressed with the fitness staff re Charlie who I was worried might turn into a Joe Daniher scenario, or worse. And also Doc who has made a pretty remarkable transformation from where he was at the beginning of pre-season. And getting Crippa back to his best (although he seems to have dropped off a bit in the past month). And Sam Walsh's recovery.

I'm more critical of the McGovern, Williams soft tissue injuries but I suspect their own preparation is not at the same level as the others. And even if it is, they're coming from further back in terms of their historical body conditioning.

Pitto, McKay, Cunningham couldn't really be blamed on the fitness team. And I'd probably throw in Marchbank as well. I'm hoping Marchbank falls more into the Charlie success story category after a horrific run of luck with his neck and then knee. I'm hopeful that once he gets a good run at it, he will be ok from there.

Surely Cuners is behind schedule. Why?

I agree though much of this seems more player driven or list management driven , that is recruiting injury prone players

Weitering on sen today said he's on track for round 16 (saints) or 17 (eagles) so that list isn't accurate.

Would be huge if he got back for the saints game.

As per my previous posts, Jacob also stated he could have gone for the ball rather than the man…he wouldn’t be on the sidelines now if he had chosen that option. :banghead:

Like many of us (I assume anyhow) I played footy when I was young (not very well mind you) and I always had the view if I chose to bump I better win the battle ... Jacob chose a pitt bull to bump and he lost

There's probably some fans who were too young to recall seeing Marchbank play LOL

People criticising Weiters for bumping are ridiculous.

Imagine a team of players worried about initiating contact because they might get injured.

He would have been suspended for tunnelling.

Not saying he shouldn't bump
But you have to pick your targets/moments

Yeah , listened to that interview BJ . Jeez Weiters is an impressive speaker . You could listen to the bloke all day . No doubt it was a late hit . A split second decision that you can't take back . No big deal for me BJ , just one of those things that happens a zillion times in a high pressure footy match .

Weiters technique to bump was all wrong.

Not only was it half hearted, which you should never do in a contest, but he left himself open to have DeGoeys shoulder go across and push back Weiters' shoulder.

You can't take it back, only learn from it.

When I was watching at the game, I thought de Goey was closing on the ball with no opponent, he will get it and be clear to deliver cleanly into the F50. Then I saw Weitering charging towards him hard and bravely IMO to save the day. Which he did, halving the contest leading to a ball up. I have no problem with him doing that and thought he was a hero at the time. Immediately realised he was in trouble as he recoiled from the knock.

My biggest concern was wondering why there was no-one else checking De Goey. Weitering shouldn't be the guy having to do that in the middle of the ground. He is used to bumping so I understand why he went with that but usually his bumps are in a marking contest and are more tactical, less dynamic.

It looks like it's from the AFL website.

Exactly. If you elect to bump you better know what you are doing and who to.

We could easily have Ed Curnow Setterfield Fogarty Mirkov all back and playing this week in the VFL. Dow Kemp S.Durdin Hayes Motlop Carroll Philp Honey Boyd Newnes all playing as well. Weitering back in 2-3 weeks. Pittonet the same. A good run with injuries now and we could easily finish Top 4 in both leagues. Nothing like depth

Weiters & Pitto are more than 2-3 away I think

But agree in general, depth is looking better than it has in years
