McGovern might get back first. Injury report from the club has Marchbank returning ‘eventually’. I don’t understand why Marchbank and Cuningham are looking at 15 and 14 month durations for each of their ACL injuries. At the time of injury it could’ve reasonably been expected that both would be available again by now.

Edit: they were injured in April and May respectively. Any chance their surgeries were delayed due to COVID limitations on elective surgery?

So many injuries. Cant be a coincidence can it? Mind you we have recruited some injury prone players so that's on us.

Parks - out for at least a month.

E.Curnow - mid season return predicted.

No update on OMac.

Don't want to hit us all at once so holding back the OMAC bad news. Seriously who is responsible for all this? That Hawthorn guy?

No, but my statement remains true. McGovern going down presents an opportunity for Marchbank which otherwise would have been tough to find

Mc Govern had the same problems last year.
Poor management and/or Mc Govern being impatient

I just saw that Jake Stringer is listed as out with a hamstring.
Under ‘Estimated Return’ it says “just before the Carlton match”.
Joe Daniher’s estimated return: “Just before the Carlton match”

And just like that, we now (alongside Eagles) have the longest injury list.

Need to move on from a couple of Oscar, Marchbank and McGovern at the end of the year.
They can’t consistently get on the park and it creates a massive imbalance in our list. Kemp is now basically the only key position back up at either end of the ground that is available.
McGovern will stay as he’s contracted but the other two are in trouble. Marchbank essentially has half a season to show his body can stand up to the rigours of AFL football. If Oscar is ruled out for the year with a stress fracture in his back, that may well be the end of his career.
Pick off a couple of tall blokes from other clubs (like Young last year), the state leagues and National draft.

Great point you make cecil.
12 months to return from an ACL is giving them time to get fit in that period. We all know that. 14-15 month needs explanation now because the natives are restless.
Marchbank fans are sick of hearing Marchbank being written off and decisions on their spot have to be made by the end of the year. The right decision must be made. Marchbank should be rehabilitated to give him the best shot and getting back in the seniors...or something is amiss in Russell's rehab program.

I'm happy to have them return to pressure for spots after the bye, but they better be fit enough to bring their best to claim a spot in the 22. Their return will be overdue but welcome. I hope we keep winning games whilst we have all these big boys out injured/retired from our 2022 list: Jones, McDonald, Marchbank, McGovern, and Pittonet who helps out in defense.

Yes, I suspect they'll do something similar with Marchbank to what we did with Curnow last year - see if we can get him some block of senior footy without expecting much beyond him competing, running out the matches.
See if his body can handle it. Build his confidence in his body. Set him up for a strong pre-season.
Similar with McGovern but someone needs to also do some serious homework on how to resolve this recurring problem.

You reckon? Without looking at the stats, it feels like we've had shocking injuries for at least the last 5 years running

I reckon Sayers should be looking at the best 3 performed clubs, injury fitness & rehab wise over that period, & target one of their high performance managers. Russell came with huge raps but his tenure has been a total disappointment. The latest thing being Mcgovern & MacDonald are well on their way in their recoveries, & then all of a suden, bam, seasons over.
