I thought Newnes was better than Cottrell

Got out of jail twice in 3 weeks. While we deserve some love from the footy gods, that is unsustainable.

To have all but blown a game from 50 pts up against an 0-4 side is just mind blowingly putrid.
0-4 team that played a prelim last year and were playing for their season

For sure . Far too showy at times . When its going against us we need to slow it down and chip the ball around , hold on to it . There outside run killed us . And it continually happens sadly . But i'll take the win all the same . From where we have come from we have come a long way . i'm sure the coach is all over it and i expect improvement in our ability to thwart these run on's .

Don’t get our kick out strategy. We get the ball, hold onto it until everyone is manned up, take a lazy jog for 4m, making sure everyone is clear about where we are kicking it, then bomb it up to a contest….
So many times when if we went the other side or went quickly we had free players…
It’s not as if a kick in catches us by surprise….

Yes we faded badly and capitulated, but some of the supporters there today, in the captains club member area, were a @#$%&! disgrace!

Lift your game.

Carlton... the only team that can make winning feel like losing.

I just don't know what to make of it all. When they're good they're a top 4 side. When they're bad they're a bottom 4 side. The Jekyll and Hyde week after week is horrible to watch. What's out true nature? The mental fragility when a team comes at them is really worrying. I really don't think we're a top 8 side. Might fall in but I really think at some stage we're going to go on run of losses. We probably already should be on it

That's my main criticism that wasn't addressed. We weren't doing it early. But once we started we kept repeating the stupidity.

Young can't even dycjubg handball.

A few points after some time to reflect on a very frustrating second half:
- Take the win and move on to 4-1. The mostly likely situation is we end this round 7th but with 2 games on 8th.
- Twin towers were great.
- Martin and Fisher finally showed up, especially early.
- Walsh, Hewett and Cerra great.
- Second half really disappointing and shows mental weakness and immaturity of side. Cannot take next step as a side until we learn to step on the throat of teams who we have on the ropes.
- There seems to be a tug of war going on between old Carlton (flimsy, weak, soft, always gives the opposition a chance) and new Carlton (strong in the contest, pressure, winners mentality). We see both rear their heads most weeks. The hope is that Voss can slowly get rid of old Carlton but may take some time.
- Realistically we are a 6-10 team on the ladder which is ok but can be more if mental weakness is addressed.

Sad to hear.

But hopefully they didn't leave at 3/4 time (even though it sounds as though they should have).

well i stayed - but I didn't want to. You could see.... Pressure, we shit ourselves, we stop running, we kick without looking, we do all the shit things we hadn't done for a half

s0

Williams or Saad - not both.

Parks - Na.

and for flowers sake trust yourselves - do the things in the second half that you did in the first.

Leadership is still not great at Carlton.

Good to see some on this site realize we are actually miles off it.
Our zoning is so bad.
For those who solely blamed Teague for the run ons and unanswered goals now you know it’s also the personal he had to work with
Players who don’t work hard enough and not protect space.

We were absolutely pansed by the bottom team without their recognized ruckman
If it wasn’t for Weitering who knows where to position himself we would be 2 and 3.
Simple as that . He saved us against the Hawks and the Power
We haven’t played anyone good yet
Early signs after 5 rounds is that
Dockers
Cats
Dees
Lions
Saints
Are the best performed sides
If our midfield starts to lose the stoppages we are rooted because our pressure around the ground
is not top 4 standard
Our midfield is very one paced
When we play well we can be brilliant but it’s so hard to play like that for 4 quarters.
As long as we play Newnes and Setterfield we will be average
Dow and Stocker need an extended run on the wings
Martin escapes the chop but went missing when the heat was on

Not much has changed
As for our supporters cheering the team off yeah I get it
We are 4 and 1.
When’s the last time that happened.
But clearly they have no idea if they think we are much better in 2022.

Hopefully we get to see
Carroll
Honey
Stocker
Motlop
In the seniors at some point.
Dow definitely deserves a run next week particularly with his contract up in 17 weeks.
Give him a decent crack at it.

Turned on game at 1/2 time (Due to Easter lunch) and was happy we were leading comfortably. Watched the 2nd 1/2 wondering how the hell we were winning at half time

6 changes to the side the week before and we still couldn’t play with full intensity for whole match

Not at all convinced by Newnes Parks or Cottrell

Owies has been a bit ordinary for a few weeks Setterfield just going too

Just got to put foot on throat when you are in front like that

A 5 goal or more better side than Port or Hawthorn and just beat both after blowing huge lead
4-1 is satisfying but where is 4 quarters
Who is in our best side still not worked it out after 5 rounds
Wings the problem still
Backline not going as well
Team defence not also going well

Haven’t won a third quarter all year must be rectified
In the end we won 4-1 after 5 Round good but the question is have we played anyone good yet maybe the Dogs

8 goals out of key forwards again which is good
About time fisher snd Martin turned up but still very spasmodic
Weiters seems to be struggling a bit is he injured

Mmmmmmm probably. I honestly don't know what I want out of football anymore. Maybe for 11 years I just ODed and I have reached saturation point. I would like more enjoyment but I am in no-mans land alot with it all these days. The Blues out of the middle bought some enjoyment in spurts and the first half was great, but they were witches hats to be honest.

The 3rd Quarter was pretty horrendous so as I said to Caz........If we win great, move on, if we lost I simply didn't want to see the supporters so despondent after such a great start to the year. She said she was bored with the game so she was happy to leave as well.

Weak! I can cop that on the chin.

Regards Cazzesman

Port switched at every opportunity. We are very poor defensively between the arc's and the other teams know it. If you take away our first half clearances then the rest of our game is pretty ordinary.
