The worst 4-1 team in the comp but still happy we’re 4-1.

Lots of work to be done.

I'm hesitant to say this but really need to lift the percentage against north (we just thought we'd turn up and it would happen) Melbourne and Adulaide

Pottering around outside, went into the shed and turned the radio on for a score. We're 45 points up in the third quarter, I can relax now, surely we can't lose from there.

Walk back in later, turn radio on, theme song playing. Hoping we've buried them, three point win... I rarely watch or listen to the games now, it's not good for my health.

But the carlton of last year would've lost that by 4 goals.
Also to be 50 up early is a plus.
Port's season and possibly Ken's job were on the line today, they were always going to rally.
4 points is 4 points.

That same mob slapped us late last year by 96ish.

Well done boys.

Plenty to improve on. 4-1

I’m a bit like that too. It was on the cards Port would come back. I was concerned about their uncontested mark numbers at halftime and thought the good money was on Port out scoring us in the second half if we didn’t shut that down.

I must admit, Port got closer than I expected and there’s no denying they outplayed us in the second half. There’s clearly still plenty of work to be done, but it has to be a positive that we found a way to win even though the tide well and truly turned against us after halftime (like we did against Hawthorn).

I'm glad we are 4-1.
We could quite easily have been 0-5 :banghead:

The bright side is with those first halves it will eventually start carrying over to the 2nd half. Our style of play is hard a brutal but right now hard to play 4 qtrs with. That will come with more games as we develop more match hardness with the style. Not that dissimilar to the 2017 version of Richmond, who also played a hard, brutal style. We laughed loudly at them choking in games late mid season that year but they were simply brutal for 4 qtrs come September and for the next 3 years after. As bad as our last halves are now, those first halves are something to behold.

I mentioned at half time how bad I thought our zone was. The second half they just picked it apart, 114 uncontested marks. They just knew we would lag off, and hence they just hit up and hit up.

Dunno if it’s fitness, or mental, but the sagging off your man has to be addressed. It was amazing to see it live. A good coach will pick holes.

As for our intensity after half time, suggest a rethink on what we are doing is in order it ain’t working.

I think our best footy is as good as anyone’s. Our bad is bottom 5.

I like Young long term, but not sure short term.

Would prefer LOB to setterfield. Setters has the awareness of a thirsty flamingo around a crocodile filled lake.

Newnes is not a AFL level player. Just makes too many mistakes.

Take the 4 points and move on. At least Voss has things to work on.

The game started to turn hLf way through 2nd qtr. It wasn't a 2nd half fade out. It was there to see in 2nd qtr if you watch it back.

  The Flamingo would still probably drink the water with more intensity than Setterfield.

Over use, over use, over use. Tied ourselves up in more knots than the Indian rubber man.

Fisher - 1st option FFS.

Left at 3/4 time. The writing was on the wall. As Scotty said on page 1, plenty of Down Hill Skiers. And someone else mentioned headless chooks. Adam Saad was once decisive, now he just has brain fades. Newman is a deer in the headlights. The gap between Will Setterfield's best and worst effort is like looking at the Grand Canyon. I love the look of our onball brigade but at this stage they just can't lock down when the going gets tough.

Said to Caz at 3/4 if we win terrific. If we loose I don't want to be there to see a 48 point capitulation.

Potential is everywhere but disaster waits around every corner.

Regards Cazzesman

PS. I have got no idea about the rules any more. The art of being a tactical ruckman is pure subjectiveness by the Umpire. Pitto being constantly called for infringing simply because he is stronger is madness. How is a smaller ruckman, without a huge leap, expected to beat a taller more athletic opponent other than by smart body work?

And that umpire who was 20 metres away when Gray intentionally ducked his head, needs a week or 2 in bush. What an absolute shite decision. I give up.  My love of this game is now down to about 30 minutes per game. Maybe 45 if Melbourne is playing.

Regards Cazzesman

4 points are 4 points

Amazing first hafl: 2 x 6 goal quarters.

Surprised how well Newnes and Cottrell went for us today. Not world beaters but marginally better than LOB and Setterfield of late.
The wing is still a problem for us.

Curnow and Harry are A grade footballers. Fire when it counts.
Midfield group damn good...but their run around the ground dropped off badly
Pitto faded in 2nd half.
I'm not a fan of Jack in the ruck, but geez he's a good, smart footballer.
Some of Martin's disposal was awful.
We can't stop teams with their uncontested game.
Our backline support faded, and looked a mess in the 2nd half...not sure why.
Where's our turnover game? Next year

Bottom 6 players in order:

Owies (2 weeks in a row)
Durdin
Kennedy (2 weeks in a row)
Newman
Martin (yeah I know he kicked 2 goals but typically, faded badly)
Setterfield

Young and weitering had some moments but did some very good stuff over 4 quarters.

We played 2 damn good quarters this wek. That's an improvement.

Next , Freo

I agree, put omac and Gov in that team and get rid of young and port don't even come close.

Newnes, Setters and Young must come out.
