Spot on.

Weiters 194 - Reeves 199
Young 202 - McEvoy 200
Gov 190 - Gunston 193/ Nash 197

Doch - Wingard
Saad - Morrison
Williams - Moore

Gov will have the biggest challenge imo.

Weiters will play on Lewis who is 198cm

Reeves is 208cm and will ruck most of the day

Also isn’t Wingard out?

 Thanks for fixing that up.

Lewis is a big unit.
Ditto McEvoy

Wingard is noted as a Test for this weekend because his hammy injury was found to be minimal, perhaps tightness.
Silly of them to risk him this week.

Wingard plays Sunday

https://www.afl.com.au/news/731038/star-hawk-passes-fitness-test-mitchell-weighs-up-day-call

Quote:
HAWTHORN star Chad Wingard is set to face Carlton at the MCG on Sunday after passing a fitness test at Waverley Park on Thursday.

The dual All-Australian was substituted out of last Saturday night's 64-point win over Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval after tweaking his hamstring late in the opening half.

Scans cleared Wingard of more serious damage early in the week, before the explosive forward completed training on Thursday to put his hand up to play.

New Hawthorn senior coach Sam Mitchell said the Hawks decided to err on the side of caution in Adelaide, given Wingard's injury history.

"At this stage, we hope that he will be available. If gets through today then he will be available," Mitchell said on Thursday.

"I think it was difficult (to determine the severity) in the game. He had some signs and they weren’t exactly sure (how bad it was), so we were able to use the sub."

and, Day to come into 22 on Sunday

Quote:
Mitchell said young gun Will Day is available for selection after returning from ankle surgery in the VFL over the past fortnight, but wouldn’t reveal whether the 2019 first round pick will play for Hawthorn or Box Hill on Sunday.

Day starred for Box Hill against Collingwood at Victoria Park last Sunday, after enduring a frustrating 2021 that was limited to only five senior games due to two separate ankle injuries.

"He will play this weekend; I'm not sure at this stage where he will play," he said.

"He got through a full game of VFL on the weekend so he will be available for selection."

The advantage Setters will have is his height, it's a tough one.

Setterfield's first half against Doggies was superb, and not too bad in the 2nd hald too.

I had written off both LOB and Setterfield last year. Now they play like they care about their output, or know their roles better.

I have more faith in Setterfield when the heat is on. The word "composure" and LOB don't go hand in hand.

BV must be having a giggle now I am lobbying for Setterfield over LOB. LOB's last 2 praccy games vs Saints and dees were a pass for me, and he gave us legs we badly need on the wing.

I like abns left field thinking above.

No way I’d be dropping Setters. Thought he was one of our best in the first half last week, which is when the damage was done and the win was set up.

Also big big no to plowman for Oscar. He will get destroyed by McEvoy or Lewis. He’s always been better playing on smalls or at a stretch a third tall type, but McGovern has taken that role. Hawks have two ruckman sized forwards, Lachie won’t get near it against them

I wonder if it might be Cerra, Martin & Plowman in for OMac (inj), Fogarty and Newman?

Setterfield rotating through the backline from the bench (replacing Newman) with Cerra/Walsh rotating wing/middle?

They might pick Young ahead of Plowman, but I have a feeling they will go with Plowman.

Newman or Fogarty as sub.

Good thinking outside the square abns re Setterfield.

I can't see the value of Fogarty as a sub TBH. Not a fan anymore.

Maybe Owies to sub.

Out McDonald, Fog, Plowman and Owies to sub
In Martin Cerra and Young

Cerra for Fog and Young for OMac would seem to be reasonably obvious.

If Martin comes in (which I believe he should) then the out would have to come from Owies, Durdin, Setters, Fish or LOB. Any one of those chosen would consider
themselves unlucky but I think it Fish may be the one. I think Owies and Durdin work really well together and work hard at defence inside the forward line. Also, the wings are starting to work well.

Maybe given the size of the Hawks Kemp could be considered for Medical Sub just because of his size and versatility - although I know he hasn't shown much in the past couple of weeks.

I am unsure why people keep repeating Cerra in for Fogarty. The two play different roles. Walsh a midifelder came in for Cerra a midfielder last week. Cerra will come back in this week at the expense of a midfielder, the weakest link. I think that is LOB, but Voss and Co may have different ideas. It will just mean Walsh, Kennedy ( who both spent time on the wings last week) as well as perhaps Cerra will be played on the wing at various stages.
Martin will come in to replace Fogarty.
Who will replace OMac, I am expecting Young as it was he and OMac who were competing as Jones' replacement during the preseason.

I am very cautious about tipping Carlton to win this one. Under pressure in the second half last week, the backline looked fragile and now Young will be included. I hope he proves me wrong but he just looks too slow and his decision making seems rushed. Obviously our mids hold the key to winning this game. Also, there are multiple players who should be getting a game before Fogarty. He just does not impress me.

Geeeez. McGovern is a huge loss.

I think we go in light down back and the bench is Pittonet, Kennedy, Cerra, Martin

I’d be okay with that. I guess we can always swing SOS back on a Gunston type if their height starts to worry us

Yep, and can drop the resting ruckman back if need be too.

Better yet, just don't let them get the ball down there by winning the centre clearances and applying strong forward pressure (which we have been doing)

The biggest test will be the team defensive structures on turnovers and shit F50 entries.

Sadly this just about sums up Gov’s Carlton career. Play good footy and then injured.
