Midfield depth was the deciding factor
Kennedy has come of age
Cerra
Cripps
Hewitt
The difference
This is what the modern game is about
Great for Docherty
But it’s a long season

I thought a win might be on the cards at 3/4 time but I didn’t expect it to be as emphatic as it was in the end.

That last quarter was as enjoyable as it gets. We found the composure in final quarter that was utterly absent in the first term. I also really liked the way a few players who were pretty ordinary for 3 quarters stepped up and had an impact (eg. Fisher, Martin).

I should reserve judgment until I watch the replay but I was mildly disappointed with Cerra for most of the game - I thought he would be more composed with the ball - but he finished up with 30 disposals and his last quarter was very good. My expectations might need to be reset slightly, but I reckon he’ll have better games for us and will enjoy having Walsh out there with him.

Cripps started poorly but he was vintage Cripps after 1/4 time. Kennedy is as hard as a cat’s head and if he can stay healthy could become a genuine star.

Credit to our recruiting team for getting Durden. He looks very promising. And I like the cut of Hewitt’s jib.

And what more can we say about Doc…

Good solid win.

Can't wait to see what we are like when we get that offensive link up in the F50 sorted.

The defence is the 100% opposite of last year, unbelievable.

Matt Kennedy goes alright for a GWS 'reject'.

The Teague Train curse is now Richmonds.

Up the Blues.

At the G. So much pain over the years. So much relief. In tears. Couldn’t bring myself to believe we’d win until 1:30!

I’m so @#$%&! proud. It’s one game I know, but I saw more fight, grift than I have in 3 years.

Thought we were gone at quarter time. But they fought, they scratched, they persevered.

It was delicious that some players who lit up the first half did Nyngan second half yet players doing Nyngan first half lit up second half. Simply delicious

I actually forgot Teague was with them until you mentioned it. I don’t wish the guy ill by any means, it’s just I’ve barely given him a thought since we sacked him.

They showed him at the start of the coverage, it's the only reason I remembered he was there.
He'll do well there, I hope he does a Voss and builds up his skill set and gets another crack at it.

Just home from the game.
So bloody proud of our club tonight.
What a sensational win, it had its ups and downs but that last quarter was fantastic.
It has been a long time since the crowd got so involved in a game and the noise was deafening at times.
I have to start work at 7am tomorrow but I am too hyped up to sleep.
Go blues.

That was sheer joy
One of the great wins in recent memory
Our supporters outnumbered theirs and we were much louder.
Killed them in contested ball in tight.
Quick hands bang bang bang to get in the clear
The roar and standing ovation for Doc when he kicked that goal
Kennedy huge, never seen him better
Multiple contributors, stood tall when it mattered
Dare to dream

Half way through the last they handballed to O'Brien and he fumbled it. I yelled out never give the ball to that man, ever.

A minute later he gets the free in square and the lady infront turned and said with a smile...."Do you want the ball in his hands now? I replied, yes he can kick the goal, so he can run off to the bench and never come back on again, ever!"

Ever, ever, ever!!!

If we have no-one better than him in the 2's then we aren't fairdinkum.

Regards Cazzesman

Can't ask for a better start to the season. And can't think of a weak link in our entire team. That last quarter is as good as it gets. Our midfield was outstanding, add Walsh and our midfield looks almost A Grade. On to next week - let's put the Bulldogs to the sword.

really enjoyed having a win - umps as usual go too hard in round one but they always settle down.
Great performance by the midfield, including the rucks. and backline pretty good. Up front, Durdin and SOS for me. Harry got involved but didn't click, Charlie well off the pace, Owies off and on, and Jack M and Fish poor up until 3/4 time.
LOB gets to the ball a lot but just not strong enough. To be fair he wasn't used to his advantage, usually got the ball as a front and centre rover rather than an outside runner, but can't break or stick a tackle. Didn't really notice Setterfield - he seems to still play as an inside mid rather than an outside runner.
There seemed to be an instruction for dinky centring kicks, if running forward on the flanks. Have a shot! rather than a short kick to a 50-50...
So a great win with still some work to do.
