...has signed to play with Karingal in the MPNFL (Mornington Peninsula league) this year and possibly beyond. Lives nearby apparently.

And on a different note (for those interested) - Heath Culpitt continues to rip up the league here in Darwin for St Mary's. He's winning the player of the year award in the NT News by about 7 votes, and he's second in the ABC's player of the year award. St Mary's are way out on top and definite favourites for the falg. Sorry to slightly hijack the Darren Hulme thread.

Good sponsorship from local businesses is very important too.

Yeah but you gotta be carefull with local business sponsors. The owner of the business might be a flower and want too much say at the club and @#$%&! things up.
You can't go wrong with pokies...except with the minor negative of hopelessly addicted morons who sit at a machine and waste their own and others' money & lives. It does get the club a lot of money though!! :P

The smartest footy club sponsorship I have heard of is a club out the Eastern suburbs sponsored by a brothel. Thats really smart because a brothel is highly regulated in the way it can advertise. The club gets the money and the BOG gets a free voucher every week from said establishment.

(Sorry, this has got nothing to do with Pup)

He is a Ball Magnet and one of the best tacklers in the comp. St Marys are looking good for their fourth flag in a row.

The wives and girlfriends of players for that particular team would be wrapt with the BOG award

They'd have to go in hard to get the BOG.

Playing in front may not be as wise as it sounds.

Weve though of that but the AFL up here tries to control everything, so we havent been game just yet. BOG awards could be fun.

"The Pup" looked an absolute monty to play for EdithvaleAspendale in the same comp. But the Karingal boys upped the ante with the biggest offer yet in the MPNFL.As they say folks, money talks and bullshit walks. The most interesting part of the story is that ex Bonbeach boy,you guessed it,one Lawrence Angwin is being wooed by his former club.If they succeed,it will be a very interesting contest between Karingal and Bonbeach. Both clubs renown for there never take a backward step attitude. And in local footy,it is often more entertaining what happens off the field than on.Tell ya what,Lauries old man is a big tough fireman and he dont take too kindly to anyone having a go at his own flesh and blood.Stay tuned for further installments.

Ps...........Lawries younger brother plays also for Bonbeach and to this day faithfully trains in the no 47.............obviously there is no bad blood between the family and the club.

There must have been Some "Angwin type" issues with Culpitt because I thought he was an excellent prospect.Interesting to see if he was picked up by another AFL club down the track

It has to be something like that, but I doubt Heath will be of interest to other AFL clubs - a few too many years on him now.

I used to teach down Karingal way. Interested to see how many of my former students are in their colours. More than a few - they spent time down there rather than study (or listening to me).
Alas there are a few guys down there with talent, but nothing between the ears.
