I guess that explains clearly why Teague wanted to coach us

Who is the best available to coach Carlton
It’s fairly obvious that Teague will get the bullet next week
It’s clear the board want Clarko
Clarko may want the year off
So if that’s the case then Lyon gets it
The extent of the boards thinking that these two are the best available

The board have appointed two unproven young coaches
So now it’s back to the Malthouse approach

No due diligence in finding the best coach
If you can remember when Teague was appointed in 2019 the players views were the clincher in him getting the job after his interim phase
I had a problem with this because there is always a honeymoon period with something new

It’s the board that should be perceptive and smart enough to appoint the right person

In the two years Teague has been coach he clearly isn’t hard enough and not defensively minded enough and not flexible enough in moving players around
Tactically he has struggled
The board should have had an idea of this before employing him
Sometimes you get it wrong
But often does the Carlton board get it wrong
They are almost clueless
What about Kingsley
He could be the new Clarko from 17 years ago
But we won’t know because the board are dumb and lazy

This is what you will get with Simba
A defensive game style. Too much
He will be tough which this list needs but some players will dislike him and not want to play for him
He doesn’t galvanize teams. He lacks the human touch.
I reckon he got lucky to some extent at the Aints and initially at the Dockers.
His last 4 years at Fremantle was a @#$%&! disaster

Clarkson at least has a caring factor to him
But it’s the boards lack of thorough process which is once again on show
Pathetic

But there are two things you can’t criticise Carlton for.

One is moving on from Teague, that was absolutely the right call.

And two, you cannot attack the club for running a proper process to find the next coach.

After eight coaches in 21 years, Alastair Clarkson aside, it would have been irresponsible to appoint a coach such as Ross Lyon without going through the correct procedures.

It was clear that the connection to the job stroked Lyon’s ego, but when the work needed to be done to convince the club why he was the man he wasn’t prepared to get down and do the dirty work.

That spells danger.

Bravo - well said Kane Cornes......understandable criticisms and appropriate acknowledgment

Its good.

Shocked it comes from Kane

So the Hawks and Pies just selected 1st time Coaches. I haven’t heard much fall out from that.

Why should Carlton be different.

Why would a Kingsley or Yze be any worse that those other 2?

Paddy stop falling for the media beat up FFS!

We are Carlton and the media won’t give us the same patience , the moment Carlton announced this re build 6 years ago , the whole competition including the media have been laughing at us and they won’t give any new coach a breather at the blues and the damage on this group over the last 5 years

They need a experienced football dept including a strong footy director , experienced footy manager plus ceo and a experienced successful , strong in the media and tough on the players type coach ...

This is the the most important signing in our clubs history since David Parkin came in 1981 ...

We are witnessing a significant moment in our footy club , make no mistake about this

No mistakes can be afforded, ,,,,

The place has been a shambles for a long long time. This is the first time that the club is having a full reset.

I’m backing Luke that with the right people in place we will make a charge. We have to make the 8 next year. There’s only so much our fans can take.

Except its not the board that is selecting the coach. As with Bolton, a panel is recommending a coach that will be rubber stamped by the board.

The reason we churn Coaches is because we have never run a true process in appointing a coach and without that, there is not a clear direction that unite the entire club and have the board back the coach.

The board has appointed the coach and washed their hands of the decision and held the coach responsible for the outcome. I truely hope that we now run a proper process to appoint a coach and set a clear vision that we wish to go with that coach and fully back the coach to implement that vision.

Collingwood was a laughing stock until 1990 (Collingwobbles).
Geelong was a perennial laughing stock (handbags) until 2007.
Richmond was a laughing stock until 2017 (Ninthmond).

If we want the industry, incl media, off our backs, we need to get serious on and off the field.

I’m not sure the first two comparisons are valid, there’s a huge difference between being derided for constantly losing finals and being derided for constantly winning the wooden spoon.

We have to cop the criticism......our last two coaches were first timers and we either got it wrong or didn’t have the appropriate system in place to ensure they were successful

Bolton went too far with play the kids and too defensive. IE strategic error and didn't adjust away from it. How much of that was on him v directive from above I'm not sure.

Teague more or less the inverse and it seems he had plenty of advice and opportunity to adjust but chose not to, so pretty much all on him.

Hello. I'm 40! Born in '81. Only seen one flag I can remember, being '95 of course. Lucky enough to have gone, too.

'87 I of course have zero recollection of.

They still have time in their 20's, I feel like time's already running out for me!

Meanwhile my step-dad and his old man have basically seen most of them. His old man was at the bloodbath, among all the others! Was AT the flower' bloodbath.
