I dunno... a coach that gets his clubs to grand finals is rarely boring

Equally, when did "3 time losing grand final coach" become a must-have attribute?

I did notice last night RL dropped the hint that he's already done a 13 year interview, or words to that effect. In hindsight, sounded a bit like he didn't really want to go through a drawn out process. They were making jokes about having to do psych profiles etc

On another note, heard Leppa talking up Kingsley on the radio the other day, said he's travelled the world & reviewed clubs from a whole range of codes. Something Clarkson did years ago.

If Ross is truely out because he has to have an interview and go through a process, then he's not the right coach.
Appointing him based on his previous record is the "old" Carlton way and the board are doing the right thing now.

As an employer and for a position like this, at minimum I would like to hear what his game plan will look like with our team and an evaluation of our current players and what/who he thinks is missing and who should go.
And that's the bare minimum.

I'd also like to know who he thinks he needs around him to make his plan work.

I kinda get where Lyon is coming from with the 13-year interview line, as churlish as it is, but also, if he really wants the gig I think it's reasonable that we, the club, anyone, would expect Lyon to back himself in against any candidate. If that means fronting up to a thorough recruiting process then so be it.

When culture is one of the problems our playing group continually struggles with, what sort of message does it send if the coach will only accept the job if it's handed to him with no competition? May as well give him 300 games while we're at it.

If he wanted it badly enough he'd go through the process.

Could not agree more...
Regardless of who you are, this position is at a level where you will be asked..'where do you think you are and what do you think we need to do?'
(let alone a a player by player assessment)

Go Blues

Wow we are a laughing stock.

Absolute joke. This is actually embarrassing - not so much Ross Lyon being coach but the way we've courted him and Clarkson and how its blown up in our faces.

In the poll who is Danny Daly? Is that a joke person or someone genuine?

Agree

One weird thing about Lyon I've noticed is, the way he communicates it sort of comes across as if his brain's moving too quickly for his ability to speak. Starts a sentence, half way through, starts next sentence, & so on

Comes out almost as broken English, can't work out if it's nerves or what

Can we invite Gerard Healy back on to the panel now?

Not sure why we are so hung up on having a "process", there is no set Template to appoint a coach.
The process should be whatever the club thinks will get the right coach.

We've been here before and had different "process" for appointing coaches and none have got us to where we want to be.

If the pecking order was
Clako
Ross
rest of field

as soon as Clarko said no, appoint Ross and move on with preparations for next season.

But I thought Lyon was a done deal months ago and this process was all a sham? :screwy:

Not sure who’ll we’ll end up getting but this should shut up the crystal ball nuffs and move them back onto Covid conspiracies again instead
