Always happy to have Parko back helping out, but the remainder of that panel will do nothing to dissuade the pitchfork and torch brigade.

Interesting that Liddle and Lloyd are on the list.

Do we assume that Cook just subs straight in for Liddle if we land him?!

I dont get what the new board members will add in picking a coach.

One is a statistics person and the other is media. How will they help? Lloyd and Liddell, to spite us will sabotage things.

Oh not sure about this. Really uneasy. This selection is so important.

Besides who do you think Williams and Parkin are gonna pick.

They think we are stupid and everyone knows there will be no thorough process. And this is why i reckon no one wanted to help from the outside as they read between the lines.

Just a waste of time.

Perhaps Kinnersly’s involvement is to smooth the media narrative around Ross’ inevitable hiring.

(It won’t work)

Is anyone worried that the club doesn't know what it is doing?
Seems like this is a big mess.

Parko is better than Healy, but I still would have preferred an ex-AFL coach from the past decade in there (eg. Buckley, Eade, Roos). Sheedy would have qualified under that criteria and made an interesting addition to the panel.

No they said they were going through a process to select a new coach and they are

You might complain about the composition of the selection committee but all new directors and Parko is ok by me remember they did approach Healey

Lyon most likely will be appointed as zi duspect provided Clarko and Buckley are having 12 months off then he is the best candidate but imagine the hysteria if we simply appointed him

Since the end of the process the club has stuck to its process and that’s what is generating the adverse media reporting as we are not being reactive to their narrative and are sticking to the process

Consider we have a culture of instability and 20 years of under performance why shouldn't we be cynical towards those that constantly make incorrect decisions?

Parko is my favourite Carlton person ever (& yes that incudes Rambo Stallone) but yep this doesn't feel like we're making a thorough search to me. Which I'm actually not too bothered by given I really can see merit in Lyon. It's his job to lose...he was coached by Parko at Fitzroy, then joined Parko again as reserves coach at Carlton in 2000.

He's also in with another Carlton giant in Wallsy. Coached by him at Fitzroy in 85, played under him at Bris in 95, joined him as an assistant at Rich in 96. And of course he's mates with SOS.

I couldn't help feeling a bit envious of Collingwood today though.

"Collingwood, ..... have gone to the draft and not free agency to find their next coach."

Caro saying Carlton have asked Brad Scott whether he wants to be involved in going through coaching process
RL says that Sayers called him in respect to the process in respect to coach

RL says he was wanting to know details of process which he expects to find out tomorrow

That's what I was thinking.
I guess they can't really do much until Geelong is done.

I suspect Cook might not come as CEO.
Might be more a mentor role or something.

Just an aside, I remember Parko telling a story about his time at Fitzroy. The Lions were keen on a talented kid from Reservoir. Who for whatever reason, wasn't jumping out of his skin to join Fitzroy.
Parko and others made multiple visits out to Resa to get him on board, eventually succeeding.
That kid's name was Ross Lyon. Love the irony.

Hmmm, given Lyon started with Fitzroy in 1985, and Parko was still at Carlton then, the timeline doesn’t quite add up. Unless Lyon quit the club in 1986 or 1987 and Parko was part of the campaign to bring him back?

Yeah Ross possibly did go down i n '85. It didn't suit, and was brought back in '86 or 87.

He was a fantastic player by the way. Tough and skilful. Would have played 200+ games if not for injuries. I would have loved him at Carlton in the early ‘90s.
