I don't have an issue with Ross taking over as coach but just curious. Are we going to go through a proper process and interview different candidates to determine who is best to take us forward, or are we just going to offer the job to Ross?

Hopefully it's a comprehensive process Rhino and all noise coming out of the club suggests so.

I hope you are right that it is comprehensive. If that is the case, should we not get on the phone to some potential candidates pretty quick? Not suggesting McRae is the best person to coach us but reportedly very close to getting the Collingwood job. Should we not at the very least get on the phone pretty damn quick and have a chat to him to see firstly if there is interest in coaching and if so if his visions align with ours? Do the same with others who have been short listed by them. Doesn't mean they are the best to coach us, but need to at least find out before they are lost to another club.

I was thinking along those lines too.

I didn't know anything about McRae till recently.

I expect Pies to sign McRae as quick as Hawks signed Mitchell if Carlton shows any interest.

A part of me was hoping we'd find another way this time around... may have been an unpopular decision but stick by Teague and improve the people around him... be brave... at least for another year and see what happens.

Yep, I didn't really agree with Sayers' assertion that the easy decision would've been to hold on to Teague. So subjective. You could also easily argue we've been taking the easy way out for 20 years & we're doing it all again.

Anyway, what's done is done.

Get Pagan.

From Wikipedia:
When the St Kilda coaching position became available at the end of 2006, a list of candidates was drawn up. Lyon beat a total of 52 candidates for the job, including favourite John Longmire.[2] He succeeded Grant Thomas, who was sacked a week after the Saints were defeated in an elimination final by Melbourne.

52 candidates! :smoking:

Back in the day when I use to read resumes, my eyes use to glaze over by about #6. By #52 I would book myself into the nut house for weeks stay. :yikes: :yikes:

Yes but at 7 cents in the dollar that works out to about 4 resumes

The Carlton process - hand pick the best available sacked coach with the best gravitas.

All the best with your retirement money Lyon.

Went back to read about the Freo sex scandal. There was never a denial just a settlement.

Are you still here? I thought you be busy on the 'Punt Road End' pumping up DT chances as an Internet Influencer.

At least it's different to the last process of picking a coach with absolutely no idea on the back of a cartoon show.

Doubt very much a committee comprising Diesel Williams our Director of footy would approve a dud candidate as head coach of the CFC.

I still do it.

We get about 400 CVs for every job. I have a 40 page file of the best outtakes.

There’s some bizarre shit people put in there at times and then there’s stuff that just makes you smile.

One of my faves was “I have a knee eye for detail”.

Whomever is selected, it would be precipitous to expect much within 1 season, new coach will have to sort out, the mess.

Speaking of Hissy Fits........... You haven't stopped squealing like a stuck pig for the past fortnight. I am pretty sure even Teaguey would be feeling a tad uncomfortable by now, with your carry on.

Go and do something constructive and start up a Facebook page calling for Teaguey to be reinstated. Make a few signs up for the EGM.

Just stop sooking like a petulant 5 year old brat.

That Sir, will make excellent book one day.

Caz can add a few from her vast collection as she initially vets the CV's coming into her Employer. Tough to be articulate about your skill set when English isn't even your 3rd language.

I would like a $ for every time I replied to an applicant with the simple CV advice........'short sentences, 3 sentences to a paragraph'.

Generally at Carlton the pattern is to start well then it gets worse until the coach is sacked....lol.

So i'm holding out for a honeymoon period in case we find our way into the 8 before it starts to go belly up..
