I suggest you get over the storm in a teacup accusations made against Lyon as well as your hidden agendas and support what’s best for the club and that is winning flags.

From what I’ve read Lyon said something inappropriate to a female staff member. There wasn’t anything physical involved and it was settled by the parties and the Fremantle Football Club.

I’m not trying to diminish sexual harassment in the workplace but last time I checked this didn’t disqualify him from ever holding another job.

A member of my family wrote the first organisational sexual harassment guide in the country back in the 80s and has worked with major government, corporate and institutional organisations over the last four decades (she’s retired now). The best outcome you can get in a situation is that all parties come away satisfied and educated about what their responsibilities are with respect to workplace behaviour and attitudes.

I don’t know anything about the situation at Fremantle and I’d suggest outside of rumour and innuendo nobody here does either. But whatever transpired, unless the complainant comes out publicly and makes a statement saying otherwise, at this stage the matter has been resolved. And to suggest Ross Lyon should never be able to coach again based on what’s currently known would be unfair, wrong and completely disproportionate.

GWS - your right we don't know what actually transpired, but lets be realistic. If this was "settled" between the parties does that not also suggest the claimant was legally bound to not provide any further communication about the "settlement" or the "incident"? Regardless there is a much bigger picture here.

It means the complainant was satisfied with the outcome.

Nothing more.

Nothing less.

That’s the aim of mediation.

Satisfied because they got a $$$$ settlement? I understand they signed an NDA - that does not mean they were satisfied with the outcome - more likely they took the money to move on....

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Perhaps you might like to put your cards on the table and tell us all about your 'deep seated concerns' for Lyon. This all smells like last weeks fish has been left out in the sun.

Words like Ample and Must sound like an agenda being wrote large.

Wasn't it the club or AFL that arranged for and paid the settlement? Lyon was prepared to defend himself but club/league didn't want the exposure.

As I said - I'll retract "ample" not sure where "must" came from. I should have prefaced my rant by saying I'm a passionate carlton supporter and have been for the best part of 40 plus years. I'm just frustrated we have had to endure decades of incompetence both on and off the field. I am trying to say that with that frustration, I've sadly become a little cynical in the belief that the "process" to appoint our next coach wont be based on a proper process and underpined by the highest level of standards, transparency etc etc. Again, I hope i'm wrong....

You do realise this is the AFL landscape we are talking about...not exactly the “creme de la creme” of industry standards!...

Should Bucks be a consideration, seriously?

If this is indeed a proper process, all should be contacted to present

Absolutely. We should interview a comprehensive field

Agree Jim, especially Caracalla. His achievements as both a player and assistant coach are very good.
Anyway, I hope we have a genuine and thorough interview process.

After the way we handled this it might be a case of "who actually wants the job". Might be the first club to get no candidates...haha.

Yet the AFL person he has any relevance to is outwardly applying for the job in a very public sense. :?
I suspect there will be plenty of candidates jumping at the opportunity.

I don't have an issue with Ross taking over as coach but just curious. Are we going to go through a proper process and interview different candidates to determine who is best to take us forward, or are we just going to offer the job to Ross?

Hopefully it's a comprehensive process Rhino and all noise coming out of the club suggests so.

I hope you are right that it is comprehensive. If that is the case, should we not get on the phone to some potential candidates pretty quick? Not suggesting McRae is the best person to coach us but reportedly very close to getting the Collingwood job. Should we not at the very least get on the phone pretty damn quick and have a chat to him to see firstly if there is interest in coaching and if so if his visions align with ours? Do the same with others who have been short listed by them. Doesn't mean they are the best to coach us, but need to at least find out before they are lost to another club.
