Sam Edmund reporting that there is a chance we retain Teague for next year as we have cooled on Ross Lyon in the past 24 hrs.

So Clarko unavailable next year, Ross not looking good after due diligence and the review unfavorable with a bunch of recommendations but Teague says he'll take them onboard and implement if he gets another year?

You’re concerned he might win us a flag in the next two years...

If he wins us one in the next 2 years he can do what he wants AFAIC

Really?
Instead of jumping at the messiah, we do our due diligence and come up with a different result. If that result is Teague with better support is the best option, I can't see how that equates to "spineless" :?
In fact, I'd suggest it is the opposite.

Apparently we need to give Teague 7-10 years in the wilderness to bumble his way into becoming a semi-decent coach at the end of it all with nothing else to show for it but the retirement of all SOS Academy members. Anything less is disrespectful and disgraceful and spineless by the board on a former club ubersuperduperstar champignon, makes the execution of Ratts look like a pillow fight

Agree, if anything id say the board has shown more balls in this stance than they have for the last few years.

Thats not to say its not just for show and teague doesnt get his papers tomorrow, but at least (it appears) we are doing our due deligence and giving him a chance to respond, and not just going by what the media wants.

Perhaps its a case of ... okay, here is what we think. You have 24 hours to prove to us, perhaps he is almost re-interviewing for the job...

This is an absolute worst case scenario as far as I am concerned.

Teague either needs to be sacked, or extended for 2 more years as a show of faith in him to do the job.

Anything in between is a bit half pregnant, and simply moves to have him gone by the bye next season.

I’m not saying go for the messiah, but if the review says that Teague hasn’t got enough skill to coach, then go through an interview process to find someone with that skill.

I dont want Lyon and dont necessarily want Clarkson either.

Clarkson is the best coach but he won 4 premierships already, so is the hunger there. Plus he would want heaps of money and years and we cannot afford that in case it doesnt work out.

Cant just keep Teague because Clarkson is not available.

Teagues coaching was torn apart over the last few years, and we cannot have another wasted year next year.

It just kills me that Essendon* has made the 8 after the players they gave up with a nice group of young players.

Why cant we get there too?

Teague has been given really good players and we are still doing all of this…..

I don't much faith in Teague but I have said it before, how many years were Bomber, Hardwick given before they came good ...

Maybe the best thing is keep Teague and get the best EXPERIENCED assistant coaches.

The middle path.

i reckon that incorrect. its not their young players that are making the difference. they have moments ... but they arent the reason they are winning games, nor is it Rutten's first year at the helm ... depsite what they might say ..

their midfield is getting them over the line ... in most games, and i hate to say it, stringer is in career best form at the moment ... stinger, parish, merret and the other bloke whos name escape me, arent in their 1st, 2nd or 3rd years etc..

they have some young talent but its not them winning games etc..

If its all about due diligence and fixing the cracks, wherever they be, coach or otherwise, then the outcome should move us forward.

One thing that the AFL is very good at is using the media to generate interest.
These guys just make shit up to suit themselves

Before the review, Hardwick had got a basket case team into 3 finals series. One of those years, they were top 4 material before finishing 5th.

Pickering has gone to town on Cripps today, article by Jay Clark.

What a double standard, complaining about Teague being mistreated, then attacking the club Captain.

I wonder if the review feedback was the cause?

Home truths for all?
