mmmmmmm........................at the risk of getting an abusive phone call from him, I'm thinking late 50's :yikes: :yikes:

With lockdown and curfew, now is probably a good time to phone him.................plenty of time to spend dissecting the world and life and all things CFC.

Never a short call with the 'Badman'. :donk:

I spoke to him a few months back. He called out of the blue but it was like we spoke the day before.

Still exactly the same.

FWIW I think he’s 55.

To be honest, at times you do come across as an amalgam of some of the most outspoken and singleminded ever to grace the glorious pages of TC.

Call it a badge of honour that you are being held in such exalted company. They were the best of the very best at what they do/did here on TC. They were often bent but never broken………………and then as their beliefs turned to dust, they just slowly dissipated into the ether……………poof…………..gone like flatulence in the breeze.

Get him back for a guest appearance so he can square off with Walshy . Shit , that would be a battle royal . One thing for sure , it would go the full fifteen rounds .

His gameplan isnt much different to Bolton's. I'm not zealot about it... but Ross is the past need to look to the future and stick to it.

Haha so you are
On record now in saying that Ross Lyon is past it but Teague ahead of the curve

The fact you are backing a sacked coach who is out of his depth and you hate Ross Lyon

I’m starting to think more and more positive the club is finally Turing this place around

I never knew it was as easy as doing the opposite to everything you say about football

You are the Carlton supporter George from Seinfeld

Between 2000 and 2004 RL spent time as the Carlton VFL Coach. Mrs Caz and I were well and truly up to our neck in the Blues back then and rarely missed an AFL or VFL game. We were real diehards in them there days.

At every VFL game we sat directly infront of the VFL Coaches box with a single pane of glass separating us from the wisdom of RL. Around 2002 Waity was a gangly yearling who could do the brilliant and the unthinkable, all within 3 steps.

Hearing RL give him a spray over the ph was some of the funniest stuff I have ever heard.

It seemed that about every 5th ph call to the bench was..........'Get Waity on the phone." When a forlorn Waity trudged off and finally picked up the phone I would put my bino's on him across the ground. Watching his reaction to RL's words behind me was absolute Gold. To Waity's credit he sucked it up and got on with it each and every time.

If I had a $1 for every time RL grabbed up the phone to the Runner and would start with.......TELL WAITY!!!!!!!

We all thought Pagan would give the club a foot up the backside but alas we were stone motherless broke and broken as a Club.

Ratts was going to be the Savior but he did not have the background experience he now has. Ratts had no 'Off' button and I think he often put people on edge with his 'passion and one track mind.' He could never relax into it.

Malthouse................was Malthouse..................I could understand players not wanting to play for him. Not much gray with Mick. You either Love him or Hate him. He just wasn't Carlton enough when things went wrong. Zero support in the background when the deals are done.

Bolts got smashed by over expectation from those in the back room. They just didn't have the patience to wait. I think deep, deep down when it really counted, the players found it hard to relate to him as he had not played at the level. Just my take and those of a few others I know.

Ross Lyon might just be the Battle Hardened Warrior we need. Nothing he hasn't seen 100 times and he can read the writing on the wall at light speed. SOS is his bestie so he will know the politics (admittedly from a bias perspective). He just needs to surround himself with like minded souls. I know nothing about Dean Soloman but from what I read he might be a good fit under Ross somewhere.

If RL got the gig I wouldn't mind seeing if Brendan Goddard has any interest in being involved somewhere. His dislike for losing is legendary and his ability to call out slackers is on the same scale.

Clarkson might be a better choice but RL will be fun, fun, fun. Interesting times ahead for the pea hearts if he gets the gig.

Regards Cazzesman

Hilarious.

Thanks for lightening up the drama filled room.

On that note...get Clarkson.

May the best man win the Carlton coaching job.

My mother before her passing went onto TBV, then Talking Carlton for one reason, as she would say, "What is Synbad saying today?"
He may have been many things on these forums, but he was always colouful and trusting, to those he held dear.

Ok...left field lightbulb moment

Has anybody heard from Asp since Walsh took centre stage here on TC?

Asp loathes Dow...maybe Dow is the captain of that 'pea hearted' midfield in Walsh's eyes

Walsh also displays alot of Asp-ness in his posts

Well the date Walsh joined 8 June 2019, 6:55pm....

Same day we beat Brisbane in Teague's first game as coach! All in on Teague messiah it would seem....

With Stewart out that will hurt, but I see it as very even this year.

If they can get Duncan back and not lose other important players, they are my tip to win it.

Like last weekend

Sure, one is a young talented coach with a depleted list and the other a supposingly experienced coach that has never won a flag and been sacked.

Now I am not convinced Lyon will work, but I think the pendulum has swung too far from over coached defensive Bolts to under coached, player run, do as you feel Teague.

Also I think the AFL in general need to get away from thinking anyone who has ever lost their job at a club never deserves another chance ever again, in other sports it simply doesn't work that way. Leigh Matthews got sacked from the Pies and did ok at Brisbane. Eade same at Sydney, did well at the Dogs, without getting the ultimate prize.

Going back further Parko had coached Hawks out of finals then came to us and won 2 flags, also got the flick at Fitzroy before coming back to us, and from us before that!

Sometimes circumstances at a club lead to a coach being burnt out, losing the group, or the club just needing a change.

We need more of the former that Bolts was trying with structure, but to get buy-in from the players. Its simply not sustainable to be playing exactly the same way for 2.5 years, its been the same regardless of injuries, there is no identifiable system to how we play, as soon as things start going badly everyone just goes into self preservation mode, or trying to do things as individuals.

We need to work with what we've got as best we can, every side has deficiencies, every side has strengths.

I think ultimately the review will find that:

1. Not enough going on tactically, games we have won just seem to be when McKay and/or Walsh have dominated
2. Too player run, which Teague tried to turn around 2nd half of the year, but seemingly too late
3. Further to point 2, showing loyalty to players who helped him get the job like they were some sort of club premiership legends (like Murph and Casboult)
4. Wasn't a great idea to go with what they players wanted in 2019 rather than going through a process

Walsh vs Synbad, hazard a guess not in the same weight division. The latter is heavy weight
