It’s getting pretty tiring talking about this mob. Jumper looks the same, the blokes representing it for the most part under DT have not done it proud. What will change that will come out in the wash with this Review. 6 more games for DT as a Carlton coach it appears.

Yep...injuries aside, it's just a rinse-repeat with conditional intensity and commitment in a structure-less maelstrom that on the ground defies the fact that there are 18 footballers against 18 other footballers...not sure where our players are but there's either half the team trying to tackle one player or not a player in sight during a chain of disposals

Glad you appear to be “on my side” 99prelim.

There seems to be quite a lot of supporters out there falling for the bait, and I mean that in the nicest possible way.

We need a coach with higher expectations.

I would go hard for Choco Williams. Unfashionable but the shakeup the club needs.

Choco is over the hill

Director of coaching would be a good get though.

Got to sit behind the goals this time. Few rows behind the camera man, 2nd level @ punt road end.

Thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to watch from behind the goals - really is the best way to analyse the game.

Thoroughly stupefied at our structures and dumbfounded by our decision making.

PS: Geelong are not that good. They won't go deep into finals this year. Walsh will have a premiership medal by the time he's done (and a norm smith, and a brownlow or three... hopefully for Carlton) and Henderson and Tuohey will shave none of the above.

If I was the club I would be finding the cheapest and largest broom I could find at Bunnings and sweep the entire coaching panel out.

19 scoring shots from only 38 inside 50ies.
We had enough shots to kick a score but couldn't convert
Mind you that inside 50 count didn't ever really give us a chance to win. Our season average is 51.
Walsh, JW, Saad played well. Newnes , TDK and JSOS were all ok.
Jack Martin poor. Dido Fogarty. Cripps had 7 clearances but was ineffective.

I’ll let another poster with more footy nous answer that.

One clue though is defensive efforts, tackling and execution skills.

So you admit you have no idea. Fair enough. I'll leave it at that too.

One hint we had no half forward to link up play with deep forwards. Martin was just attrocious and Jack was busting a gut and finding himself in D50 but today defensive efforts were not a problem.

Whaddayamean why? It's a shambles out there. 18 blokes playing on instinct and having "fun". There's no real system. Certainly not anything more complex than the Olinda Ferny Creek true bloods, for example.

Just like last week against Freo, we got figured out by quarter time and ground down for the next 3 quarters by a committed, professional group. The game was as good as done by half time.

Can't win or be competitive in the game kicking for goal like that.
Goal kicking practice this week boys!

Frustrating game. I would have loved to have found a way to make Stewart accountable, but he just waltzed around doing as he pleased.

The goal kicking... well what can you say. Deplorable.

Walsh simply amazing. He is without doubt our best player. He deserves better than Carlton.

Weiters has to be AA. He is one of if not the premier defender in the game.

Then there's the rest. SPS disappointing. Fog looked overwhelmed up against his old side. Barely gave a whimper. And Setters just may as well not even be on the park. Almost too the point where you question whether he has any future at the club.

26 points. Comfortable win for the cats that should have been at least made somewhat uncomfortable

The only two times Geelong have won a game 70-44, 1952 and 1958, an Aussie won Wimbledon.

Notice we beat Freo last week, holding them to a point in the last qtr when challenged. This week would have been a cliff hanger with remotely accurate kicking. That's against a flag favorite with an undermanned side.

How would Geelong perform if they had to actually handball?

Frustrating game.
You can't win games when you kick at one stage 1 goal 11 behinds.
Weitering and Walsh the standouts and TDK played his best game.
Cripps is clearly injured and cannot kick so he should not be playing.

We got within 7 goals of them, so I look forward to reading nothing but how bright our future is for the rest of the week.

Better kicking would have made it closer on the scoreboard, but - let’s not kid ourselves - Geelong would have found a way to win. At the ground, I felt like Geelong didn’t get out of 3rd gear because they didn’t have to.

With a few notable exceptions, it looked to me like our players had a real crack. We just either don’t have the right system or we aren’t good enough to execute it. Possibly a bit of both? Overall, our defensive effort has been better in recent weeks (including tonight) but there’s a few weak links in that respect who either need to change their ways or be shown the door, IMO.
