We have failed to compete for 4 quarters in just about every game since Teague took the reigns, not just the MCG.

The thing about the G compared to other grounds isn't the extra 4-6 metres in length but the 10 metres in width.
How that affects Carlton at the G, I do not know.

Is it that there's no roof? 12 metres wider than Marvel.

Metricon and SCG are wide ovals and we played well on those 2 grounds, just not 4 quarters.

If played right against the right opposition, the MCG width opens up teams. Teams who have defense as a weakness can be exploited.

Hogwash - last season if ladder was measured on quarters won we would be top four.

This is Freo's home game so they will get all the revenue that Carlton people will pay.

Not only they may beat us in front our crowd and home turf but will also fleece us with our money.

Cool.

At least you're confident.

We should do fine only if Mundy doesn't bring the whole team in the game like he has done recently.

Yes but ladders are done and have been for Time immemorial on games won not quarters won
Winning games is the basis of assessment of performances

5-14 is not a great percentage of wins to games played

Our whole problems is we rarely play a consistent brand of footy for 120 mins
That and other reasons including having no idea defensively is why the coach and football department are being reviewed and coached snd footy department members are in trouble

Have to play Levi, Darcy will have a field day otherwise.
I’d leave Fisher out, maybe Fogarty too.

In Levi, Newman, Honey, Kemp

Out Murphy, Docherty Williams and Fogarty

Not sure who will be called up but would like to see some new blood come in
Season is shot and plenty of injuries but must have a good look at most if not all on our list

I think Levi will come in but last 12 months have been diabolical I like Levi as he has done very well coming off rookie list but performances ain’t their

We havent done it this year for myriad of different reasons and no coach can wave magic wands and make things happen from thin air.

All we have done this year is fine tune the game plan and developed bit of depth as rookies have played alot of games this year. Kennedy and SPS have also been reprogrammed properly in the VFL.

Coaching a team to play aggressive attacking football with high skill execution is much more difficult to coach than setting players behind the ball and play negatively - any coach can do that.

Thats the point of difference Teague has identified to go on a run of sustained success and like Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool has taken him five years that said from the outset - some teams like controlled football, I prefer heavy metal! - I personally want to see that style of game played at its full potential. Need the right players to do it though. Saad & Williams is only the beginning we need few more holes to fill because if we win more clearances than w are doing at the moment - teams will be blown away into oblivion.

FACT.

What's the ladder like this year if based on quarters won? I don't think as good as last year.

I think you need to go through the history past 40 games - that seems like a perception rather than Fact.

Out - Docherty (inj), Murphy (inj), Williams (susp)
In - Casboult, Fisher, Parks

B: Newman Jones Plowman
HB: Saad Weitering Parks
C: Walsh Cripps Newnes
HF: Owies Casboult Silvagni
F: Betts McKay Martin

R: TDK E Curnow Dow

Inter: Fisher, Kennedy, SPS, Stocker.
Sub: Fogarty

I could be persuaded to play Honey ahead of Fisher (if he’s not 100%) or Fogarty.

I think Parks needs to come in to play Docherty’s role. I also think we need Levi in the team to lighten the load for TDK, McKay & SOJ.

I can buy this argument when we have a healthy list.

Teague needs to be able to coach to win under different circumstances. ie learn to adapt.

Your point doesn't excuse Teague from his shortfalls: any semblance to a sound defensive structure; failure to respond to opposition strengths/ tactics, fail to motivating his players; selecting unfit, out of form or conditional players. I guess the Review will explain this too him, because he seems one dimensional and too stubborn/ inflexible to win the winnable games imo.

ABNS, Freo don't play a tall fwd line, especially with Tabenar out. It will be Lobb and Traecey as their keys.

I reckon Cazbolt and Fisher (if fit) are locks to come in

Don't think we need Parks, I'd play Fogarty, Ramsay or Cottrell for extra run.

This style of game is difficult and needs to be drilled week in and week out. We are in no position to swap and change game styles.

Supercoach Clarkson is sitting second last do you think his gameplan is no good and needs to change it?

We need the right personel to execute the gameplan that comes in the form of developing players to play a role or bring them in from other clubs.

Not to say players like Cripps, E.Curnow, Fisher and a couple of others are not really helping with soft years.

I see you're referring to Docs role in defense as opposed to his recent outings on the wing.

Can Parks play that sort of role? He struggles to get possessions and seems his calling is as the 3rd man up to kill a contest.

I see you have stocker on the interchange. Is that for the 7th defender, or incase Parks can't find a match up?

I think we need a bit more speed than Parks offers in a HBF role, but the team looks pretty good.

Fair point about the need for run. I just reckon Parks makes us a little stronger in the air and he can play on smaller types. Intercept marks are so important. With Docherty out, I’d be inclined to give Parks a go at HB/wing. And perhaps having Parks in defence might allow Stocker to push up the ground at some stage in the match? Plus I seem to recall Parks did OK against Freo earlier in the year (might have been his debut actually).

By the way, it’s telling that Williamson & LOB aren’t in the conversation at all, despite all our injuries. What a shame those two, particularly LOB (1st round pick), never kicked on. Papers stamped I’d say.

Yeah, I was thinking Stocker as that 7th defender - he started on the bench last week and was solid when he came on. If we don’t play Parks, I reckon we’re a defender short unless SPS goes back or we bring in Cottrell. Neither ideal, IMO. But it depends on match ups and how they train this week I suppose.

What a load of shit.
SPS needed re-programming because Teague persisted in trying to turn him into a defender when it was obvious he was never going to make it. He's a forward/mid and finally after confusing the shit out of the kid, he's finally being played where he belongs.

As for your comments about coaching aggressive attacking football, that's laughable. The key is to coach a balance. To defend when required and to have an offensive mindset when you create the opportunity. Suggesting defence is about setting players behind the ball and playing negatively is simplistic nonsense. We have no concept of team defence. Our own coach believes the best way to stop an opposition when they have momentum is to keep attacking! He and the players have openly stated so.
We don't compress the ground when required to assist our defenders. That's why Weitering and Jones are in more one on one contests than other defenders. Until Teague implements more than one mode of structure and game pace, we are wasting our new recruits and our players are being under-utilised and short changed in their development.

Since we lost one of our home games against WCE and had to play it in Sydney our members should be able to get into this game for free.
Dreaming?
