My hope for AB is that he becomes a good honest soldier for us in the middle for 100+ games. Every teams need workers who just do the hard stuff without really being noticed.

Expecting too much more from AB is pretty unrealistic (seeing as anyone who manages to play 100+ games of AFL is already in the top 10% of all players anyway).

Perhaps Ratten is a better example than Williams. Not that we can expect AB to win a B&F in a premiership year like Ratts did, but I don't think there were too many people proclaiming Ratts the 'next great centreman' when he was playing his first 50 games in the back pocket.

In fact, according to Ratts, it was Ken Judge (assistant coach at the time) who pushed for Ratts to be put in the middle. He sure earnt his keep with that decision.

I compared AB (hopefully) to Ratts a few months ago in a thread.

A lot of similarities in those two players....a closer match I think.
