seems strange to me that Bannister's getting a lot of support, and there's not much for Wiggo.

I'd rather Wiggo in the team, personally, in any position. He, and we, won't die wondering with Wiggo.

You say his disposal to a player is no good yet you say he plays best on the ball :? ...that's a bit of an oxymoron isn't it seeing that onballers set up the play by good disposal.
I mentioned Wiggo is a good set shot at goal. Maybe the reason for that is the goalmouth is a lot wider than a teammates chest and there's a lot less room for error shooting for goal.
Playing forward where he can mark and shoot for goal and be a bit of a physical presence accentuates the only attributes he has imo.

Good points budzy.

I reckon, other than the odd shank, that Wiggins kicking problem is his depth. He kicks over people heads ssoooooo often or kicks to their feet. But kicking for goal as almost a two-dimensional object is easier for him.

He finds it hard to kick to leading players I reckon.

Not an oxymoron at all....Barry Armstrong was a terrific ballwinning midfielder for the blues but his disposal by foot wasnt his strong point and was considered his weakness...Tony Shaw, Libba, Anthony Stevens....the list goes on of poor kicking onballers of note.....Wiggo had a game last season where he did play on ball from memory and got a fair bit of the footy and appreciated the freedom..I thought it was his best game for the club and thats what I based my remarks on...

Come off it Elwood!! To put Armstrong, Libba, Shaw & A.Stevens in the same disposal category as Wiggo is laughable.

Cmon Budzy..read what i said.....I said he played his best game on the ball, I never annointed him as the next Michael Voss ....he won the footy well in that game and enjoyed the freedom....I'm not saying Wiggo will play in the midfield but he isnt that bad that he couldnt either just my opinion. His disposal would improve much like Adam Bentick's if he got more of the footy and had more practice under pressure. Like I said though I think other players eg Luke Blackwell, Jordan Russell etc will be given preference over him at the selection table and that if he does get a game he will need to play very well to keep his spot as like Bannister and Chambers he would be one of the first dropped if we went through a bad patch......

Great point.

Wiggo > Bannister.

I love his intensity. Could fill a 'Hamill' type role I reckon.

The key part of this is about Wiggin's decision making. Under pressure he panics, and frequently is caught holding the ball or turning it over. In fairness, I think he improved in 2005, but there are many ahead of him on current showing, and I doubt he has much improvement left.

Reminds me too much of Simon Fletcher.

That's an insult to Simon, he actually played a few good games.

So has Wiggo.

From memory didnt he come to the club as a forward?

He could potentialy play a crash and bash role in the forward line. Whilst disposal is lacking courage isnt and he wouldnt be scared to attack the packs. Also with the attach he has on the ball it would really improve our forward lines attack on the ball. He wouldnt let it out easily, something that has been happening too ofter in recent times.

Love the blokes commitment and I really hopes he can prove all the doubters wrong and come good, however I struggle to find a place for him especially in ouw forward line. I suspect he would have been a handy player in a very good side, workman like, but we need less workmen and more managers(leaders) at the moment.

I agree with these two great men! Wiggo goes hard all day long! I would love to see him up forward but the problem is who do we lose out of the forward line for him? We have so many mid to tall options up there already.

BTW he looked like he has got bigger when I was at training

That's a general term Elwood, not a singular term

I agree that the young blokes like AB, Blackers & Russell should get opportunities but if Wiggo has bulked up his best (& only) role would be as a forward.

I like Wiggo cos he never stops trying....he's what Allan Jeans would call "a good soldier"....does what he's told with no frills.

If he had the skills of Adrian Hickmott; he'd be in our top 18 every week.
