Getting away from the bickering, I've mentioned previously that Macreadie missed a lot of footy without being on the injury list. There may be some other personal issues we are not privy to. I rate him and our list requires someone of his size so I suspect the club believe he doesn't have the tools to become an AFL player.
Hopefully they have someone else in mind.

Whatever the case, good luck to him in the future.

Right. The suggestion was that Kemp, Marchbank, or Gov could take over from Jones and pair with Weitering as our KPDs. If we go in with Weiters and any one of those three as ours KPDs we will get slaughtered.

Now that we’ve delisted BSOS and Macreadie, I really wish we had have drafted TDKs brother Sam. 202cm key defender who plays like a flanker and can go forward and into the ruck.

How do you like that one Crusader?

Agree wholeheartedly with the first part.

Also agree that TDKs brother Sam would be like-for-like with BSOS and Macreadie.

Carlton and Sydney executing a pick swap.

Swans get pick 48 and a future third rounder
Carlton get pick 31 @AFLcomau

Pick 48 (302 points) and a future 3rd (say pick 48 next year after FA compensations etc) is worth about the same as pick 31 (606 points) - fair trade

Fair chance pick 48 was going to land a few spots higher, given the handful of clubs only looking to use one pick. Sydney, for instance, won’t be using their 2nd round pick.

Still, 31 is better than 48 in any scenario.

We lose third rounder next year but have two 2nd round picks this year and potentially move even higher in the order with pick 31 + 38.

This means that the Club will be able to re-contract Kennedy onto the Blues’ rookie list without needing to wait until this year’s NAB AFL Rookie Draft.

In further news as a result of this ruling, Eddie Betts has also agreed to be placed onto the rookie list with Kennedy in order to ensure the Club will not need to make any further list changes to its current playing list.

Still getting paid the same. Still available for senior selection without a spot opening up... what was the point of the rule change then?

Transition to smaller list sizes I'd say. The rule may only apply for this year.

I think it relates to being able to draft during the National Draft and the fact those players must go on the main list. Being able to move players to the rookie allows that. That, in conjunction with the late announcement of the list size reductions made it problematic for clubs trying to free up space on the main list to draft youngsters.

TLDR, AFL created a problem by cutting list sizes and leaving it late so now back engineer it to solve it, but have really just turned half the rookie list into the senior list... its dumb.

Good outcome.

So for those with a grasp of the numbers, how many picks does that allow us in the draft?

We currently have 34 on the senior list and 4 on the rookie list. We need to have at least 36 on the senior list and can split the rest between senior or rookies. (42 max) Can also have 2 category b rookies)

Three certainties in life DB...death, taxes and that bickering will make a comeback sooner rather than later on TC
