Could not believe the self-centred and "its not me, its them" divisionist comments of Matthew Lloyd in the Age article today, where the first thing he did as captain was point out how HE always does the right things and it annoys him when he thinks others haven't.

Followed up by a promo tape he put together with a view to getting everyone around the same coffee table?

Is this guy for real? For that matter, is Essendon* for real?

Am I missing something? Despite his appearance is he actually a non-egotistical good bloke with great leadership?

In any event, good lesson for CFC's leadership group how not to lead.

(would link the article but don't know how)

Read that article too and had a bit of a laugh thinking whether he showed on the tape any of his 'dives' for free kicks.

he probably paid someone to put the tape together - blame someone else if it was a bad job

The scum will regret not giving the captaincy to one of the Johnson boys.Lloyd is an excellent player, but as a leader he is about as inspiring as a hanging turd at the local meat market.

That is a remarkable rant.

I would be fuming if Kouta came out and said something like that.

I think as long as Hird plays he will be seen as the true leader of the team.

he is a tool. maybe he has been misquoted or taken out of context, but fancy putting yourself up on a pedestal like that without acknowledging that you might have some aspects of your own game to work on. he did have one thing right though... the new rule regarding how long you can take to shoot for goal is spot on. kicking for goal is an aspect of the game that hasn't improved over the years. the guys who are the better exponents of the art are the guys like lloyd and fev who take their time to compose themselves and shoot for goal. the AFL need to think about what the game is all about. is it running up and down the ground as fast as you can or kicking goals?

What a dangerous thing to say as leader of a team of people. He will live to regret what he has said.

I think it's great - I can't wait to read about a player revolt that doesn't involve us! And with Campo there as well, it'll be great!!

And the fans lap it up as if Lloyd was quoting the bible.

As the game has said, Lloyd as captain is a token gesture while Hird is still getting a game.

he's right though... but the execution was wrong.

This is obviously a Sheedy thing.... he must have thought it would sound more "real" if coming from someone in the playing group.

I think Sheedy feels he might be losing the group, and Lloyd is his little lackey

I suppose it could be worse. I notice St Kilda has elevated Milne to the leadership group.

Who's next - groucho and harpo?

I wish we'd traded for Campbell Brown.

Campbell Brown is my hero

Thats exactly what I though.

When I read this:

Quote:
I have always done things by the letter myself

My first reaction was "Yeah, probably do, cause you're TOO @#$%&! STOOOOPID TO THINK FOR YOURSELF"

and then I calmed down.

Lloyd as a leader is a joke and He's already [REDACTED] up in his first outing.

Definately should have been a Johnson.

No wonder Sheedy has been pleeding with hird to stay - There's a definately intelligence vacuum in the club if he leaves and we all know how much Kev wants to protect his win/loss record.

I assume the vacating of Shaw and diamond boy are signals of a rudderless ship. :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Lloyd is a tool.

Sniping, diving, open-mouthed, grass throwing tool.

All the best developing your young players under this "leader" Essendon*.

Maybe after a few years of his "captaincy", all the Essendon* players will be doing "the right thing" and staging for free-kicks, whinging about their team mates and dropping their IQ by 40 points... Just to be like their esteemed leader.

Tool.
