My guess is this week will be his last

When I saw Simpson jumper swap with Gibbs after the loss to the Crows, I said to myself he will retire...otherwise Murphy would have swapped with him.

Looks like its going to happen at The Gabba this Saturday.

It really is a MUST WIN game for Teague this week.

The boys have to do it for Simmo.

Lions have cemented 2 home finals and a home grand final
Hoping Lions fear injury with a relentless, reckless Carlton effort

Lose and the negative media will be heard for the next 6 months non stop.
keogh will lose his fingerprints on the keyboard

As I posted earlier, if we lose, and Effendon* beat Dees, we go down to 13th
If Suns win next 2 against Pies tonight and Hawks next week we go down to 14th.

It will be a long long summer for carltonians

I can live with the Suns winning their next 2. Means the Pies likely miss the 8. I'll sacrifice ladder position for that.

Was just about to post the same thing.

2015: 57 point loss to Hawthorn.
2016: 24 point loss to Essendon***** who had won 2 games for the year with a team of top up rejects.
2017: 81 point loss to Sydney after being 12 down at half time. Buddy kicks 10.
2018: 104 point loss to Adelaide. Bolton plays half the game with a 2 man forward line. Jenkins kicks 7
2019: 68 point loss to Geelong in pissing rain.

Nothing says to me that anything has changed.

2014 - draw with Essendon****
2013 - 1 point win over Port
2012 - 15 point loss to St Kilda
2011 - 20 point loss to St Kilda
2010 - 6 point loss to Fremantle
2009 - 72 point loss to Adelaide
2008 - 78 point loss to Adelaide
2007 - 31 point loss to Melbourne
2006 - 92 point loss to Sydney
2005 - 30 point loss to North
2004 - 1 point win over Collingwood
2003 - 124 point loss to North
2002 - 55 point loss to Essendon****

Since the first wooden spoon, two 1 point wins, a draw and an average losing margin of 57 points.

I knew our record in the final round has been disgraceful even in those few years we were above average, but that is truly depressing reading.
The fact that our players check out early every single year is a joke.
Even the 4 years we played finals we only won once. Even then we were horrible in the extreme for 2 1/2 qtrs then come home from 37pts behinds to win by a point, which got us into the finals. Familiar story.

After last week not sure they'll dare not have a crack this week. Teague was diplomatic but you could see he was seething deep down the way he said a couple of things. Hope that exploded out in private.

Im shocked

So a 9 goal loss would be an improvement on the 18 year rolling average.

Is that for real agro?

Crazy stuff

I DEMAND A CHANGE NEXT GAME

I didn't think to go back any further because we were competitive for 5 years or so. That is a disgrace!

If we get within 7 goals of Brisbane, I’ll be very surprised, but I won’t include the 3 rubbish time goals that we get from the 10 minute mark of the last quarter after Brisbane put their cue in the rack.

Bondi...love pretty much everything you write so while I'm not challenging the above, my head right now wants the exact opposite
Why should they win it for Simmo? They should be winning every week for the jumper, the club, the history, privilege of playing AFL.
It will be a long long summer regardless...we f%^&& up many chances this year to make the 8 for all the reasons you read on TC, BF, Twitter etc (yes, we are not in the inner sanctum but we have ballsed it upo big time...anybody can see that)
A win against the Lions is the last thing we need...some false hope and optimism, some straw clutching, some wallpapering over the cracks

Like I said, this is how I'm seeing it...I want the blowtorch on that whole flowering organisation over the next 6 months...like many CFC supporters, I've had enough
I want Teague, Cripps et al to STFU over the break and show us Round 1 2021 what has changed.

re Carlton's Final Round disgrace:

With many thanks to "Brently8" and "Rod Spooky Galt", I trust they don't mind me re-posting their efforts in compiling this from THEIR posts, here in one contiguous list without all the re-quotes so it looks as clear and ugly as it should.
It's blood coloured because it is a woeful litany of shame.

I, for one, had NO idea what 'history' faced us with this coming game:

CARLTON'S FINAL ROUND RESULTS

Since the first wooden spoon, two 1 point wins, a draw and an average losing margin of 57 points.

2019: 68 point loss to Geelong in pissing rain.
2018: 104 point loss to Adelaide. Bolton plays half the game with a 2 man forward line. Jenkins kicks 7
2017: 81 point loss to Sydney after being 12 down at half time. Buddy kicks 10.
2016: 24 point loss to Essendon** who had won 2 games for the year with a team of top up rejects.
2015: 57 point loss to Hawthorn.
2014 - draw with Essendon**
2013 - 1 point win over Port
2012 - 15 point loss to St Kilda
2011 - 20 point loss to St Kilda
2010 - 6 point loss to Fremantle
2009 - 72 point loss to Adelaide
2008 - 78 point loss to Adelaide
2007 - 31 point loss to Melbourne
2006 - 92 point loss to Sydney
2005 - 30 point loss to North
2004 - 1 point win over Collingwood
2003 - 124 point loss to North
2002 - 55 point loss to Essendon**

I started the "Still can make the 8 (don't shoot me)" thread with great optimism we could win our last 3 games and get there.
Little did I know that with regards to that final crucial game v Brisbane that the weight of history would be bearing down so Brutally on our chances.

However, may that perpetual optimist inside me make this one contrary point...
the above games were all either Rd 22 (2002-10) Rd 24 (2011) or Rd 23 since.

Ergo, since this final round will be officially Rd. 18, is there any chance that with Only 16 games under their belt that This year they might not quite yet have run out of puff and could present a different result for once?

But, you know, Don't Shoot Me.

we will probably play really good until 10 m mark of lastQ and lions change gear and kick the last 3 goals of game and win easily. Worst scenario is we win by that small margin and then the whole place players ,coaches go to summer/preseason thinking we are not that far away. Truth is we are miles behind agree with kane .

To hey better play 4 quarters of hard football. I don’t care if they go down but they need to do everything they can to send Simmo out a winner. He at least deserves that much

No

Yes

IF Teague gives him a game based on his form I will be happy to be as negative as I feel towards Teague about his lack of ruthlessness, and a nancy boy like some of the some of the recruits who need to harden him up.

It doesn't happen anywhere else unless a dad is the coach and no one questions his son.

I don't like nepotism, favouritism and stupidity.

Its either McGovern or the fans stating the bleeding obvious Teaguey
Gov has let himself, the team and Teague DOWN ... again. 2 years in a row,

Would love to be there... hope there's a good turnout... and his mates fire up for a winning send off

We already get that.
