Controversial here for those who seem to want murph shot, I think he’s been excellent the last month.

Not a huge Murf fan but he has had a solid month

Terrible free kick. Love the outcome

Free kick was there...momentum or otherwise, intentional or otherwise, the onus is on the player making contact

They had paid two free kicks in the qtr after players were infringed (pushed in back) by carlton players. But if I recall correctly both frees were called back.

Happy for the win. Take the points and move on to Friday night’s must win game.

Tabenar was ok. But of his 3 goals , one was the softest free you will ever see, another was a direct result of jones dropping a sitter and falling into his hands and he had one good contested mark. He was ok around the ground on occasion but had a total of 12 possessions.

I thought weathering was fantastic tonight as he has been all year.

Spot on re Tabenar.
Weiters recovered from a slow start and finished well. He certainly wasn't pantsed as a couple have suggested.

It's hard to form a balanced view of Murphy...
He got the footy a lot, seems to be willing to be physically competitive and recently has been working super hard to be involved.
But it feels like he just doesn't use the ball well enough. Poor options and too often poor skills. Too many times he puts us in a worse position and too often helps the opposition.
He was never elite but he used to be better.
How often do we say "Fantastic!" when he is involved in the play?

It looks like his reflexes just aren't what they once were...he had a horror run of consecutive clangers at one stage. To his credit he worked his way back into form as the game went on though.

Hardly noticed Walters on the night - was Plowman on him?

I'm not a great analyser of game style but it was noticeable that we were bombing the ball: panic kicks out if defence and long bombs into forward line. On the few occasions we looked to pass to our forwards the execution was terrible.
I'm not sure this is the intended game style. A few weeks ago it was more connected with speed of ball movement and better delivery. Exhibit A is Dogs game.
I do think however they may be trying a few variables as they know they need to be able to play different ways.

The most pleasing aspect of the last two games has been the tackling and hardness at the ball

Hopefully this can be maintained

The comadrie amongst the group has also been noticeable

Although our execution is still a long way off

Well said.

Our disposal. It's either horrible or brilliant as it was against Geelong and the Dogs. Bevo said our disposal efficiency into the F50 was off the chart against the Dogs, on a very wet night. Last night was on the horrible side.

Yep - don't think the last free was there but the first two that they got weren't either ( but that won't be discussed)

I thought Casboult was lucky to be awarded his goal in the 2nd qtr - he clearly pushed his ruck opponent in the back. Both sides were gifted 2 goals.

Their ruckman took a dive, Casboult didn’t push that much. Also the one against jones at the top of the square, the free player also took a dive, almost as good as papley’s, it was reportable.

Feel sorry for our midfield, last night they were trying to read off the Freo ruckman because TDK wasn't competing enough

Did anyone notice Cotteral shirtfronting a freo player, completely knocked him flat with his aggression, loved it.

Also, did Jones actually throw the ball to Eddie to get him to take the snap at goal? He’s so lucky he didn’t get called for a throw and have the free go to Freo. Jones absolutely panicked when he realised he had a shot at goal, really poor composure and execution. Same for Harry, trying for a banana at goal when kicking from almost 50 out is such a low percentage shot.

Murphy was really poor with his disposals, but most of our players were too, he just had more chances.

The free to Docherty would be paid every day if the week, but gee his kick was terrible.

Newness had a shit game and missed an absolute sitter, had an excellent after match though! That one kick means he gets another week, but I’d much rather we played Dow in Murphy’s midfield role and Murphy in Newness’s forward role.

TDK has a good leap and generally good at centre square contests but gets pushed around far too easily around the ground. I’d alternate him and Pittonet for the rest of the year. Probably he can give Levi a rest too in one of the upcoming games with short breaks.

Eddie plays next week but then give him a rest, no dishonour in that.

SPS one good tackle for the game but is completely lost in defence, please move him to the midfield, he would probably play really well there in Darwin.

Curnow, Levi, Jacob are all rocks the team rely on, Walsh quickly catching them. Martin was sorely missed in this regard.

Cripps clearly injured, can’t kick and can’t run but keeps driving into the packs, we can’t expect too much from him this season.

Horrible game to watch, but nice after the siren.

He had some brilliant taps to advantage in the centre square, but was pushed around too easily otherwise, needs to learn to jump at throw ins a ball ups too.

Centre contests were fine, boundary throw ins awful, was content to try and ruck from behind

Well, we found a way to stop 30pt turnarounds..................play in a real low scorer where the result is 5 goals each...lol.

We did manage to have a 21pt run against us though, this time from the start.

Our record of being the only side not to score under 50pts went out the window too. At least it went out with a win.

He was absolutely elite in 2011. Pretty close to elite for a few years around that, and maybe close again for a year sometime later but I’ve kind of blocked out the Malthouse years.

His disposal has declined at a rate of knots but strangely what seems worse than his disposal itself is his decision making. A few kicks and handballs last night that had an air of a deer in the headlights first gamer shitting his pants. It’s really strange. He was such a good user at his peak

Got a headache deciding
