Eddie Betts is skating on thin ice, don't like to say it, but is close to losing his place in the side. Although it would be good for him to play in Darwin, he'd probably light up the stage.

You have to remember Eddie has left his pregnant wife and 4 kids in Melbourne.
Can't be easy for him.

they're on the gc as of two weeks ago, not that he's there

Good.

Eddie's been down in output for a few weeks, during which time his best work has been done too far up the ground, where he's still chasing and harassing.

Is that effort enough to keep him secure? Don't know.

Another issue is that in the earlier games he was uncannily at the fall of the ball in our F50 so many times and if the ball came to ground he was there. But in the last few weeks his timing has been off or he's just been totally out of the picture.

A quandary for sure.

Really pleased with the overall effort.

Can't nurse TDK through to another pre season though. Was out pointed time and time again.

He's had a taste, that's enough until next year.

Eddie was never going to star in these conditions, particularly with the congestion he was facing.

Thought Curnow was terrific. I've been critical of him this year but he was probably best.

Actualy, I thought TDK had a pretty good night in the ruck. Didn't do a lot around the ground

Agreed, I’d keep playing him.

We’re not winning a flag this year so keep getting games into him

Great to win a close one, and it was a magnificent kick...better than Gray’s. But our game style is a joke...it was dry for most of the 2nd half and we just kept bombing it into 50 and down the line. No wonder we couldn’t score. Until we change our tactics we’re going nowhere.

Cottrell is going to be good and a cult figure. The Badger should be given another game. Murphy 23 touches but is impacting games less and less. Love Ed but a poor month puts him under the microscope... I’d play Owies and rest him. SPS is doing nothing down back, on his form there he should be dropped.

Great to pinch a game like that.

Ed Curnow ... a rock in our side.

Loved the way Newnes through the flower cameraman's seat and extension chords. He prepared himself and was not going to allow the [REDACTED] interrupt the line he wanted to kick it in.

Good feeling knowing every Carlton supporter went apeshit just like I did when that goal was kicked.

I urge you to watch again. Particular at boundary throw ins. He isn't strong enough to mark yet either. It will come though

Yeah I meant to point that out too, having called for him to be dropped after that weak moment. Although I felt it was important to deliver a message, Willo's courage and toughness throughout the rest of the game sends an even better message. His best game of the season, IMO.

Sir Douglas Nicholls round and not being with his family, may sway a decision, give Eddie one more week to show some form.

Beat me to it... media trying to make a controversy out of the ending but he didn't want a bar of it

Yeah I agree, he's great at centre bounces but not much else at the moment. He seems quite decent at ground level although he got in the way of more mobile teammates at times. Having said all that, I can see what the hype is about.
