The game deserves no further consideration, beyond depositing the 4 points in the bank.

I think most have the same thinking.

We played poorly
Our A graders were down
We had injuries
Umps were useless

And we still won

That’s been impossible for this club for seven years.

Yes we are a middle table team.

But I’ve watched a lot of rubbish from this club for 7 years and middle table is an improvement.

And there is still a lot of growth in this team to keep climbing. Even a win like today is growth.

Even small things like our whole backline playing together for more than few weeks is something we haven’t been able to do for years due to injuries.

The emergence of Setters and Kennedy to pick up the slack when the A graders are down.

Cuningham stringing games together.

Lots to like about a grinding win given the first four points.

An ugly win but we’ll take it against our bogey team. The Queensland hub has been a success: 2-1 from 3 with the only loss coming after the siren against the comp leaders. On the rise. Hopefully the WA supporters are as loud as we’ve been!

Both were free kicks both as usual ignored by the umpires

Funny, but very true. All players, all teams are equal. But some are more equal than others. :banghead:

Plowman reminds me of Teague as a player. Bloody handy wet weather footballer, but a liability under the roof. Smashed Zurhaar today. BOG for mine.

Moore a necessity without McKay. Pittonet did well for the extended chop out and beat Goldstein comfortably. I assume Harry for McGovern is on the cards. Moore or Silvagni/TDK will be a difficult one.

Newnes was very handy today. Bloody good finisher. Dont think we've had one since Houlihan. Still a little suspect defensively.

Curnow did a terrific job on Simpkin at the stoppages. They had no midfield winners all day.

Won the game with little from our forward line.
Won the game with little from our major key personal.
Won the game with deplorable biased umpiring.
Won the game by not playing well.

I’m ok with this.

This club better stand up to this bullshit from the umpires: week in week out.

How about the shoulder fend off against Cripps?
Dustin Martin chops out throats 5 times a game and doesnt get pinned at all.

Quite Noticeable anomaly

Hard work watching that after the first.

Would we have won if they had Cunnington and Ziebell available?

Umpiring was atrocious but at least we’re not blaming it for a loss.

Cunners has driven me mad since his much-heralded “break out game” but he proved the difference today. Don’t give him any more club-generated media.

Setters keeps growing. Loved his game.
Kennedy to a lesser degree.
Plowman was good again and the key defenders.

Fish and maybe Down back soon.
Better side with Jack, in too.

Moore disappointing ... but what did we expect?

Eddie a non event - but this is going to happen.

SPS, for all his skill, still gets brushed off the ball far too easily.

Take the win, move on, and put another nail in the coffin of the poos and wees next week. Clarko sooking it up already after today.
Flog.

And yes Mr Eff, WTF with the Fox camera work?

Walsh also good again after last week.
No longer singing those second-year blues

Pittard looks like an absolute flog.

There. I said it.

While I think of it - does anyone know why Plowman’s 2 grab mark wasn’t paid?
Thought not.

Nice to feel flat after a win...lol,.

This post takes the cake
Happy with the win but in the context of the 18 teams we are middle of the road
We were very ordinary after quarter time and Pittard’s stupidity could of cost North the game.

The positives are we have improved but we have a long way to go.
Pittonet has made a big difference. He competes
Setterfield and Kennedy have been much better although they were both ordinary after half time
Need to play 4 quarters against the better sides
Williamson might need a spell but I still rate him
McGovern is still a concern
Doesn’t do enough and his body is about as brittle as a warm chicken bone
Betts will have games like that at his age . He hasn’t much time left.
Murphy is so soft. His inability to tackle is an embarrassment
Moore was a spud at Richmond. Why would it be any different at Carlton
There is plenty of talent in the WAFL VFL etc
Particularly bigger blokes who take time
We need to snaffle a few guys from those leagues
Gibbons is good
Have a look at Kyron Hayden who played for Subiaco. He toweled up Betts today.
Seriously over picking guys like Mullett and O’ Shea
And why TDK wasn’t preferred is bizarre

I know you don’t read my posts but
What is our standard
I think our standard is overall average
It’s getting better but at the moment where not much better than North
Don’t forget Cunnington is their most important player and he is out
To be far Curnow is out to and I reckon he is our most influential player

Bottom line Jim is where a long way off it

Norf have lost 6 of 7 since the season restart including two 50 point losses and we have won 4 including the Cats in Geelong, the Bulldogs by 50 and lead the top of the ladder Port all the way up to the final siren.

To be polite, I’d say your opinion that we’re not much better than North is very glass half empty.
Keogh always talks shit. Knows everything but actually know bugger all. How did he quote my post when I have him on my "foes list"? He's there for reasons such as this.

Middle 2 quarters were just infuriating, but take the win.

Let's make the Hawks 3-6 next week.

My wife, generally a non-watcher, watched 10 mins today and observed:

1. That Plowman guy is really good
2. That cameraman is really bad

And I listen to you again for what reason? Get sick of you're negative crap. We could win a flag and you'd find something wrong. Notice the Saints have smashed Port. Saints coached by Ratten, who you used to say non-stop was no good when he coached here. Just another thing you got miserably wrong.

What's wrong with the post? We were never going to lose, just got to keep the foot on the throat when we are on top. We have improved out of site. No-one said anything about being in flag contention. We've made it to middle of the road, 10-9 since Teague took over, better than 1-11 this time last year, but efforts against some good sides, some of which we have won, shows we are not far off either. We are very much in finals contention.

So jog on.

This is why I hate watching it on TV, you can't see what's happening.

Our forwards didn't compete so I'm not surprised Eddie was starved....

And

At one stoppage I did see Hayden, arm over Eddie's shoulder and onto his chest.... As Eddie went to take off, Hayden was holding him by the neck... No free, ump right there....
Like the Cripps example above....
Call the frees and it stops...

Now, I haven't played for 40 years, but I reckon if I m allowed to play like that, I'll star for Subiaco too....

BTW

Josh Fraser, Carlton Cheers quad, Nick Graham (a few others I can't remember) had some choice words on twitter about the umpiring for the AFL...

Go Blues

Meanwhile on the other side of the contest, two players block Gibbons and that is also ignored but he is able to get free anyway.
