Anyone else notice in the first quarter that the goal umpire (Chelsea?) was laughing when McMillan mis-handballed to Cunningham and he kicked a goal ?

Good to see at least one of them understands what’s going on out there then

Noticed that too. Cripps needs to get a father who is a bikie.

Cripps is being manhandled beyond belief this year.

Arguably our 3 best players were all ex Giants. Plowman, Setterfield and Kennedy.

Can someone in the know fix this for me... but have a look at the footage. Carlton need to take this to the AFL and demand an explanation

Yep. Where’s our media loudmouths to echo chamber this? That’s just disgraceful way to stop a champion player from playing the game.

AFL want to improve the game, get rid of this shit is a pretty simple start.

That footage right there, a few posts back, needs to serve as a clarion call for changes to our game.

It’s the “Denham factor” all over again. All this wailing and hand wringing over how the game has become such a poor spectacle - what do you friggin well expect?

Scragging, blocking, chop outs.

Coaches bereft of ideas who don’t have a decent talent pool at their disposal send in plodders as cannon fodder to stop the talented players people pay money to see.

I was trying to think of new rules to remedy the issue but then I watched the footage again - the umpire is right in front of Crippa, only a few metres away. Play on? wtf!

And to think some so called Carlton supporters criticise our captain for no reason. Deplorable. Not genuine fans.

I think most have the same thinking.

We played poorly
Our A graders were down
We had injuries
Umps were useless

And we still won

That’s been impossible for this club for seven years.

Yes we are a middle table team.

But I’ve watched a lot of rubbish from this club for 7 years and middle table is an improvement.

And there is still a lot of growth in this team to keep climbing. Even a win like today is growth.

Even small things like our whole backline playing together for more than few weeks is something we haven’t been able to do for years due to injuries.

The emergence of Setters and Kennedy to pick up the slack when the A graders are down.

Cuningham stringing games together.

Lots to like about a grinding win given the first four points.

I thought Newnes played his best game for us today.
Cripps has to be injured. he hasn't had a dominating performance all year. Put that weight back on.
Pittonet started well, got well beaten in the second and then fought back hard.
Cunningham is starting to show us what he can do and he is finally stringing games together.
SPS needs to get more footy. (still)
Murphy was solid.
Casboult is not playing as well as he has.
Mitch is a liailityin his current form.
Eddie unsighted.
Jones and Weiters both won their positions.
Plow solid
Willo scratchy
Walsh inconsistent.
Martin flashy until the end where he was solid.
Kennedy good in the forst and solid after that.
Moore was a witch's hat.
Gibbo OK. You always get your 90% from hm.
Ed solid.

Brownlow votes will all go to NM players. The umps didn't realise we were out there for the last 10 minutes.

Take the win. Move on. W can beat Hawks but will the enigmatic Harry be back? Will TDK finally get a run? Will Cripps get up? Will Mitch?

Wwll done in the end but these close games where we play like shite and just get up are going to send me to the grave early.t

Was at the game, and found it rather entertaining, with good atmosphere, and plenty of booing of the umpires.

We may be middle of the road but we can play finals.

Sorry to disappoint with this news.

This year's flag is very winnable for a middle of the road team. We've beaten the form team Dogs by 10 goals, beaten Cats at the Cattery, could very easily have beaten the rampant top team Port, should have beaten the Dees, and pushed the Tiges in the pre COVID rd 1.

We were very dumb at times today, and stumbled over the line. But we have to be one of the better middle of the road sides.

Final eight rewards mediocrity.

Fixed... this is a disgrace. 2 North players literally tackle Cripps to prevent him going near the ball. Maggot calls play on. As I said, take it to the AFL and demand answers. Make noise about it. It's @#$%&! pathetic

80 minutes of football and the only thing I wish to say is to David King: suck on my chocolate salty balls you flower-stick.

The game deserves no further consideration, beyond depositing the 4 points in the bank.

Great first quarter and good start disappointing 3 quarters after but a wins a win
Third quarter 1goal 5 for 16 entries and North 3 goals for 7 entries was the take of last 3 quarters
Umpires diabolical tried hard to even up
Plowman a terrific game and gets a bake here often but is a consistent player who can play short and tall is durable and team mates can rely on him
Weitering Ed Walsh Setterfield Pitto and Kennedy all good
Cunningham good
Ordinary Eddie Moore cas gov
Martin k but probably worst game in blue
Won game without Cripps and Doc playing particularly well
Won without Gov Cas Gov and Eddie kicking a goal
Won without H Charlie Fisher JSOS Kreuz Newman Marchbank Dow OBrien
When were we 4wins 4 losses at round 8 so many years
Must spiflicate the Hawks next week
Injuries now really impacting

Didn't get nervous like other close games as I felt we could control it. Seems we were always doing enough.

Next time we play a shit side though we need to play to our standard not theirs. Close season so percentage is important. We wasted 6-7%.

Nice to feel flat after a win...lol,.

This post takes the cake
Happy with the win but in the context of the 18 teams we are middle of the road
We were very ordinary after quarter time and Pittard’s stupidity could of cost North the game.

The positives are we have improved but we have a long way to go.
Pittonet has made a big difference. He competes
Setterfield and Kennedy have been much better although they were both ordinary after half time
Need to play 4 quarters against the better sides
Williamson might need a spell but I still rate him
McGovern is still a concern
Doesn’t do enough and his body is about as brittle as a warm chicken bone
Betts will have games like that at his age . He hasn’t much time left.
Murphy is so soft. His inability to tackle is an embarrassment
Moore was a spud at Richmond. Why would it be any different at Carlton
There is plenty of talent in the WAFL VFL etc
Particularly bigger blokes who take time
We need to snaffle a few guys from those leagues
Gibbons is good
Have a look at Kyron Hayden who played for Subiaco. He toweled up Betts today.
Seriously over picking guys like Mullett and O’ Shea
And why TDK wasn’t preferred is bizarre

I know you don’t read my posts but
What is our standard
I think our standard is overall average
It’s getting better but at the moment where not much better than North
Don’t forget Cunnington is their most important player and he is out
To be far Curnow is out to and I reckon he is our most influential player

Bottom line Jim is where a long way off it

Norf have lost 6 of 7 since the season restart including two 50 point losses and we have won 4 including the Cats in Geelong, the Bulldogs by 50 and lead the top of the ladder Port all the way up to the final siren.

To be polite, I’d say your opinion that we’re not much better than North is very glass half empty.

Anyone know what the official rule on “studs up” is? It happened to SPS last week and then Cripps today. Do they ever pay frees for it?

It’s a free but it is adjudicated as a free only if Toby Greene does it
Both were free kicks both as usual ignored by the umpires
