We cant pick and choose when to be worried and when to jump on our high horse - yes it is Essendon**** this time round, . Soon it will be another club, soon it will be Carlton. Department of Health makes the call, based on more medical understanding and investigation than any of us, back their call or cancel the season.

I don't think it is a matter getting on a high horse. The Essendon** situation is real and the others are hypothetical.
I hope the game goes ahead but not with players who should be isolating. That goes for any club.

Oh, that's right on the 'video evidence' (lol) you can't see any snot or saliva on the ball... and when they were standing around the weight bench they were careful. All clear..
Whats the point of the COVID app anyway...... AFL...

aerosols must be a made up thing

The way to beat this mob is through clean ball use and not turning the ball over or coughing it up. They can carve you up on the quick rebound.

If we are efficient, we win.

If he has passed it on to ANY of those in his training pod, there is a possibility Essendon**** will end up with multiple cases but it will be too late for us if we have someone infected.

If it takes 14 days to incubate, how can the health department give the the OK? They aren't looking all that competent what with the Vic situation compared to other states as it is.

The AFL looks as though it is going against its own protocols here. I admit I have not read them but both Whatley and Ratts said it had been made clear to clubs that if a player tested positive, that his entire pod would have to miss 14 days of footy.

So why aren't they?

BS surely you are not suggesting the AFL is on the makey upey are you?

No, couldn't be.

Why doesn't a "journalist" ask them.

If the health department has made a bad call on this or has succumbed to pressure from the AFL in any way, the season is done and dusted if even one Carlton player gets it..
QLD looks like closing its borders to Vics. NSW may do the same. WA have a compulsory 14 day isolation to anybody crossing the border.
Vic is about to have a second wave and the Vic Helth Dept allow this?

If I were CEO of Carlton, I'd be on Gil's door already. There is NO way this would have happened if Essendon** were playing WCE, Freo or any other interstate club.
Or Collingwood.

I have serious doubts the season will run its course. A precedent has been set. If any other player gets infected, the same system that was applied to this week has to be implemented again. However, I suspect they will simply do what they did with the 'Silk' tackle last week and re-write the rules to suit the occasion.

There is No way John Elliot would have put up with this shit.

Agree with everything you say.

Said some time ago Elliott crook though he was would not have let the AFL almost kill us near 20 years ago.

Will be very interesting if a CFC player catches anything, anything at all.

What I don't understand is how they can deem Stewart as the only one who needs to isolate on the basis he was the only one deemed to be in "close contact" with Mckenna. What if Stewart was then in close contact with Hurley* who in turn was in close contact with Hooker* who was then in close contact with Stringer etc? Why has that not been investigated?
If there is a risk that Mckenna may have passed it onto Stewart and that is why he self isolating, how do we know that Stewart in turn didn't pass it onto other players who then passed it onto even more players?

What I don't understand is why is it okay to tackle a player, and be in close contact with them, but you can't hug your mum?

I can’t believe it’s going ahead. The fact that * have two breaches in itself should be a red flag. They’re clearly more focused on the $ than the welfare of the players, including those donning the *.

If I played for either side I’d be wanting more than an assurance from Gill

Apparently Connor McKenna’s snorting all over Saad in a tackling drill does not represent close contact.

Carlton President Mark LoGiudice confirmed the news in a letter to members today.

“We have maintained throughout this entire situation that the health and safety of our players and staff remains our number one priority,” LoGiudice said.

“With the increase in COVID-19 testing available to players and the subsequent risk to players being minimal, we are comfortable that every possible precaution has been made throughout this process to protect the safety of our people.”

Not sure I have much confidence in our Health Minister to be honest.

Yes, but he wouldn't have allowed the AFL to do it, when he was doing a fine job of it all by himself.
