Would've been a lot better for us if they'd just postponed the start of the season

We can be sure this factored into their decision not to delay.

Postponing or canceling the season looks a good option for us currently

One positive test from an AFL player & the shit will hit the fan. Games cancelled etc.

Should've postponed, recut season to 17 rounds with each team playing each once.

Makes sense. But not when you put financial interest ahead of the health of your players.

I’m very concerned about our ability to kick a winning score in the first couple of rounds. Tigers will manage to kick approximately 100 points - they basically always do. I’ve got no idea where our goals are coming from. 5 between Levi and Gov is probably about as good as we’ll get. Where’s another 8-10 goals coming from? Despite his age, Eddie is good for a couple of goals. Ditto Harry who led out goalkicking last year. And Charlie is the wildcard who could kick a bag. Worried about this forward line until we get at least Eddie and Harry back, especially against two quality sides first up

With Betts out, Cunners and Martin have to play forward and deliver on the scoreboard for us to be competitive.
A forward group of Gov Levi Cunners Martin have to kick the bulk of our goals.

Does Owies get his opportunity ? Perhaps he should.

Owies isn’t ready, IMO. Time for Cunners to step up. Another forward option might be Kennedy who looked OK at times last year in attack.

But yeah, I can’t see how we kick a winning score with Harry, Charlie & Eddie all missing and the way we are playing.

Tigers by plenty, unfortunately.

about a month ago was very excited for the start of the season. Now it just feels all a bit flat. Lots of other things to worry about, the surreality of playing with no crowd, decimated forward line...wouldnt' be at all disappointed if start was delayed.

in terms of our general inability to rise to a big occasion over the years, playing in front of nobody might be a godsend

It was reported on the news.
I would imagine this week we should get emails from ticketek.
If you have an account I would imagine it will just automatically be credited to the card that was used.
I have also booked tickets for the round 4 game in Sydney, if that is also a no crowd game I assume I will get a refund for those too.

We'll be playing in front of a state/country in isolation... and wondering what a crowdless AFL game looks like (first ever, no?) ... expect a TV crowd likely as big as the G/F.

(That's if the season isn't delayed/postponed between now and then.)

That would be the most sensible thing to do. Money speaks though. Just one player and it's all over.

Simply all about the broadcast rights...

Won't go ahead.
If school holidays weren't already looming I'd expect schools to close as well.

NRL is going ahead.

The precedent has been set and there’s broadcast money to hoard.

Bush league competitions will hold on for grim death.

Can Smith just came out and asked them to postpone. It will happen mid-week. NRL has nowhere near the warchest that AFL have to get through this.

Just found out about Betts.

Was quietly confident the boys were going to be refreshed for this game and we could pinch it.

No Harry Charlie and Eddie and a win is highly improbable.

Fingers crossed something good will happen.
