Optimism has been knocked out of me in recent years. From 94-2001 I picked Carlton every week and I truly believed we would win. Even in 97 and 98 while we struggled I still thought we had the players to pull off the wins. That was ignorant optimism, arrogance whatever you want to call it.

I reserve my ignorant optimism for the young players like Murphy and Walker., though I don't think the optimism is completely ignorant.

My faith in other areas of the side, and the direction of the club is a bit stretched these days though
