In the 4 drafts he has lead the Blues recruiting name me one player he has picked that’s look ok from a late pick
rookie or pre season
I’ll give u two
Williamson looked good before he [REDACTED] his back
Gibbons which was an after thought after Bugg(GWS) retired
Give me some more
You haven’t listed the players who played in flags that are recruited from these draft positions
Simply put Silvangi has surrounded kids with mature bodies from other AFL clubs who in the main have been shit
Most have been delisted already
I much rather recruit a late developer in his early 20s from the WAFL
There are a few at Subiaco who would be a better option than
Fasolo
Mullet
O’Shea
Lobbe
Smedts
Sumner
Want me to keep going
Michael Braut is one bloke I would look to recruit
Late developer 22 big bodied
Had an excellent granny
Depth can happen quicker than 10 years
Considering we've mainly utilised early picks and traded mid picks for players, it's a pretty easy to sit back and take pot shots.
How many picks have we utilised between 20 and 45? 3. Zac Fisher, Tom DeKoning, David Cuningham. Anything after that is just speculating IMHO.
For the exercise, let's look at the players we've selected between picks 20 and 65-
Zac Fisher 27
Jack Silvagni 53
Cam Polson 59
Harrison Macreadie 47
David Cuningham 23
Tom Williamson 61
Pat Kerr 65
Tom DeKoning 30
All have played AFL football. Kerr is the only one gone. The only other one I'd classify as being extremely unlikely is Polson.
The others I still have hopes for.
Anything after pick 65 is pure speculation. Although Ben Silvagni looks like he could be OK.
Yes we've bought in some older bodies because we gutted the 22-26 age bracket but they were short term picks who
cost nothing and have been delisted.Seriously, who gives a @#$%&! about that now. They did their job and the list is now in a good space. Why do you continually whinge about the past when the future is looking so promising? I couldn't give a rats arse about who's doing well in the WAFL or SANFL. we're chasing elite talent now. Let it go.Highlighted in Orange is the whole point we are all making to keogh.
Its not personal. Its the past. We move on and have discussions about the now and look forward to a better period for the club with its transparent plan.
Carltonians have been through enough since 2002 and the rear view mirror isn't going to make us feel better.
We get it, but we've changed: on and off field. Carlton is a new club. The list is more than promising, and there isn't many gaps once the kids develop over the next couple of years.
The now is about adding mature bodies to the list, and we need to cut some slack for the kids and fill the gaps they have been playing in.
What to do with our picks? What can SOS get us? How can SOS maximise the 2019 and 2020 First rounders. Who wants to come to Carlton? Who should we target? Why?
Finally, it is an exciting time for our club, Carlton. Keogh doesn't seem to want to see this and would rather dwell in the past and tell us how crap we are. This is not reality unless you become obsessed that it is.
Martin and Betts having selected Carlton as their preferred club, Butler looks like there's agreement to join Carlton, and Papley is on the horizon to join Carlton. I'm hopeful there's a bigger fish that is being reeled in as we speak/ type.
Our players didn't want 2019 season to end. They are excited too. Its a great place to be.
