Hi all,

Back from hols... :(

This is the first thread I've read and I've got to say the only way it makes sense or provides any real interest is as a poll between The Game's post and Tyrant's genitals.

Can we just make it a poll?

If everyone agrees put me down for the genitals - they're not much but they've got to be better than the thread.

I don't see what all the fuss is about. There a 37 worse threads than this, all started by me. If you don't like, ignore and move on. This place will collapse if every thread developed into a debate over how important or relevant it is.

Why post in it then?

Because I'm stupid and it seemed an obvious match.

of course. This one drew us in with its puzzling premise, and then disappointed.

This is a comparison of Carlton and Sydneys 25+ players. I've put in bold the senior players who are the reason we are down the bottom. Discounting those strugglers we have 5 decent 25+ players to Sydneys 12.

No offence, who really cares about quality of over 25's between Carlton and Sydney? It's kinda like adding up all the 30+ players in the competition and rating each one.

Barring the very rare super young player like Murphy, it is the 25+ players who will be our next leaders. That's a good reason to care if you ask me.

Good post TGame.Pretty simple point you are making.Kouta and Lance doing it tough coz they aint got much support.Spot on.
If Kouta replaced Kirk it would improve the Swans coz Kouta is better in every way than Kirk.Far superior player than Kirk.In fact Kirk is the lucky one.Comparing Kirk to Kouta is a big insult.Howl me down, but Lance is every bit as good as Hall and far more creative.I will concede he doesnt have the menace factor thatHall has in bucketloads.
Got to remember TGame, giving Lance any credit has become almost a crime on this site.
But i reckon you will get the last laugh TGame.Lance is gunna have a big year.He will stick it right up em.

I don't have much time for people putting down those who start threads and constant whinging about threads being disappointing. It's going to happen that you don't like a thread, maybe quite often...no need to try and belittle someone and try and make them out to be an idiot. And as for trying to hijack a TalkingCarlton thread with banality best kept in TalkingStuff, it is completely unnecessary and clutters up the forums in which people want to talk about Carlton.

Back onto the real topic. There is no secret that Premiership teams are driven by the 25 years and over players. Without a solid core of experienced players, and those 25 years and over tend to have played well into 100 games, you've got no chance.

From TheGame's list, absolutely all of the Swans' players have eclipsed 100 games. From our list, only 6 out of 11 have. Will all of those other 5?

Ages ago I wrote of the importance of having this experienced group if you want to win a premiership, and of course there was the usual "you have no clue, all it takes to win a premiership is to have a lot of players with 100 games? David Clarke played 100 games!"...without, as usual, reading it in context.

It's been a big flaw for us, and is a good indication as to why we finished last and why Sydney were premiers. Sydney did jump out of the box, but their experienced core is 3 times better than ours.

Verbs, look at the sheer volume of shite on the footy forum, lots of words, all saying very little.

It's just as banal and space-cluttering as anything we do in Talking Stuff.

Who decides whether its space-cluttering?

I agree a lot of crap is spoken, much of it by me...but as I said earlier, it's futile debating what merits a thread has, much better just to move on if it irks you.

At the end of the day, I think TheGame's intention was to create a bone fide Carlton discussion, and as such, that should be encouraged on this site. If a thread merits little discussion, surely it would die quickly with no-one replying? If people do find it interesting, then they comment...no?
