Regarding Ross Lyon.

Surely there is someone at our Club who reads TC and takes on board all the wisdom and advice that is offered, surely. If not, they need to

And what’s all this scuttlebutt about Hinkley?
It’s come up a couple of times now. Sounds orchestrated either by Hinkley or by Carlton testing the water...
So far, I’m much more certain about who I don’t want than who I do want.
Dont want Ross Lyon, Hinkley or Paul Roos (I could possibly accept Roos in a hands off role but I don’t rate him as a coach and I am concerned about his motives/conflict of interest with his own business...).

Over the years there have been a handful of board members and staff that have perused this site. They no longer hold those positions and I would put money on none at the club logging on now.

Can't blame them...it's full of ageing, frustrated white men. Some of whom started off sane and have since lost it completely. Appointing Ross Lyon would just about push many of these off the edge so for pure popcorn eating festivities...it mightn't be as bad as you think!

Like many I have warmed to the idea of Teague and wouldn't be unhappy if he ended up head coach. However, the style we are adopting is meant to be fast reactive footy with little accountability. Yep, we are scoring and it's exciting but is it the stuff of finals sides?

Everyone talks of the Druggies slingshot game plan as not standing up to "finals footy". Do we want to resemble this?

We had a bloke in Brett Ratten who took us on roller coaster ride with a fast brand of flakey footy and we ditched him.

Calling the Conundrum. Where to from here????

Anyway...still haven't changed my vote. Reckon 'other' is a shoe-in for the Carlton gig.

Yup agree with you, gotta feeling selection committee is concocting an other type selection, we may just choose to be outlandishly innovative?
we’ve been down the traditional coach path many times both experienced and novices with very poor results.

We've tried the experienced coaches, we've tried the inexperienced coaches. we've tried ones who've played at the highest level and ones who haven't.

Perhaps one who's never played at all? A successful international soccer coach, or US basketball coach maybe? Wouldn't that cause a meltdown?!

Probs Hinkley's manager trying to ream Kochie for another contract extension.

By the sounds of Juddy on FC tonight, reckon Teaguey is close to no chance for the gig unless he performs some sort of miracle between now and the end of the season.

I was a little disheartened by that. He made it clear we want a coach with experience. I guess time will tell whether that’s experience as a head coach, experience at a lower level, or some other level of experience. By some measures Bolton was an ‘experienced’ coach.

Between now and the announcement, ‘the process’ consists of Juddy & the rest of the panel members selling us the decision that has already been made.

Played for fools. Again.

Clearly they could sense the groundswell of support for Teafue and thought they'd best nip it in the bud asap.

This was my initial thought too.
IMO the board got rid of BB mid season for 2 reasons:
1. They needed to do something to appease the membership data base and AFL powers to be and;
i. Not lose the off field success they have had.
ii. Throw caution to the wind to try and mitigate the impending Stocker trade fiasco (personally I like Stocker, but the top two mids this year will be guns).
iii. Be seen by the AFL and greater community that we are doing everything we can to get off the bottom of the ladder.
2. They already have someone lined up for the gig.

The playing group are still inconsistent (mainly due to the age of players, especially in the middle) and the best we can finish is 17th, bar a small miracle.
Fingers crossed Dew goes "6000lb gorilla" on the AFL for a priority pick and by association we get one too. This will be a good test on our clubs "testicle fortitude", to see if they can conjure one also. And on the flip side it will also show the level of bias in the AFL if we don't and they do.

As it currently stands we have won one less game than the Gold Coast (Season 2015 till now) so the AFL will have an extensive amount of dribble running down their chin awarding the Gold Coast a priority pick and justifying why we don’t get one.
